Five points clear with four straight home games now! I like our chances for 15 ECAC East regular season titles in a row! :)

Great to finally meet Prezde at the UNE game--what a real plus for NU sports information. I agree with him on a shot at the ECAC titles so long as we now remain focused one game at a time. That strategy has always served Norwich well in the past--no team can be taken for granted.

To that point, the other night when UNE scored they and their fans went crazy. It always happens that way when an opponent score either the first goal of the game against Norwich, or a goal to tie up a game... or god forbid a go ahead goal. They go absolutely whacko. In other words both in an out of the ECAC-E Norwich has a big target on their back--and will so long as they dominate the conference and the USCHOL polls. It is the price of excellence so best deliver excellence at every opportunity if we want the ECAC E.

As for this weekend and being stymied by defensive, I only saw the UNE game where we were short so many players and its as though it took some time to get some Cadet momentum and coordination going. But the Cadet discipline was certainly there in the third. At one point I even saw five UNE players all crowded around a single NU player-- who had just passed it off to another Cadet. Our kids seem to play position and wait for their shot. From what I heard from Puck Voice and the USM game--the Huskies wanted to play us to a tie by playing defense most of the game. The SOG for the three periods seem to confirm that but the boys got the job done.

Now the tough sledding begins on our march to the ECAC-E--but lets focus on Friday and let the ECAC-E championship take care of itself. :) In the meantime, thanks to all the Mainers and those folks "from away" who attended the UNE pre-game dinner at TJ Pizza. Great seeing you all and look forward to seeing you again next season. :)

Ya think? ;)

Actually I thought I would be sitting home watching the Pats this weekend but they took "being there" for granted like it was some sort of divine right like the preordained crown of an 18th Century French Monarch. ( Now I get to see two brothers (Jim was always his mother's favorite) squabble over the Super Bowl. :( Sorry, I don't take anything as a sure thing even NU in the ECAC-E

For those who care about such things

If NU earns 7 points in the last 6 games they will clinch the title under all circumstances

Any combination of NU Points earned + Castleton points not earned totaling 6 eliminates the Spartans
Any combination of NU Points earned + UMB points not earned totaling 7 eliminates UMB
(These scenarios are for an outright win, independent of tie-breakers)

Very good as always
NU more then likely will not win out
but there will be losses by every one else

This is why I was a liberal arts major at Norwich. Thanks NU Prof--I knew there was some combination of wins and losses that would take the regular season ECAC-Ecrown. ;) And then there is the playoffs to worry about :)

Winning the ECAC-E is actually kind of important. It guarantees Home Ice as long as the Cadets stay in the tournament, which the Kreitszberg Krazies will tell you is more important than getting an A in one of NUProf's courses:D

You will get no argument at all about it importance of the ECAC regular season title from me because for any opponent Kretzberg is clearly a very intimidating place to play. I recognize the importance of having the ECAC playoffs in Northfield but getting there has to be a one game at a time strategy to get there from here.

The last time we didn't have home ice was the year that we played in Barre because Kreitzberg was being built and Taylor Arena had been torn down.

Crazy to think Norwich hasn't played a road ECAC East playoff game in nearly 20 years.

When I get time on my hands I'll research how many true road playoff games Norwich has played under McShane.

Keith Aucoin Alert

The Islanders are playing the Penguins tonight on NBC Sports Network (used to be Versus which used to be OLN, which used to be "Outdoor Life Network"). Game time is 7:30 EST (5:30 MST).

Since I won't be home until 6, my DVR is set up.
