Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

I just noticed that. The Cadets have not been helped very much by other teams' nosedives. It would be a shame in that scenario that they didn't go, but it's really not that far fetched.I've seen them play about 10 times so I've got a pretty good handle on what they're capable of when they're "on". I thought Plattsburgh couldn't play much better in their 1-0 loss awhile back and they may be the only team to outshoot Norwich (albeit 27-26) this year....but still lost! The competitivness in ECAC East seems better this year. Most teams can hang with Norwich for a period or two.

Not even the slightest.

I've been saying ever since Middlebury's nose dive that Norwich's resume isn't strong in a Pool C fight.

You can also take out the St. Thomas win too I believe since it was against a Western team unless that rule changed.

If NU were to lose a couple more games they could be in serious trouble if they don't win the ECAC East Tourney,

Love the 9-for-12 on faceoff wins and over 3 minutes of PP time is encouraging. 14 minutes of icetime isn't bad either. Keep it up Keith!

The ECAC East is certainly more competitive this year IMHO. As you said, everybody can hang with anybody in the league for a period or two pretty much.

The league didn't do itself any favors though with Southern Maine and NEC who normally do decent out of conference, having poor results.

UMass-Boston, Norwich, Skidmore, Babson, and Castleton are all good teams IMHO. Skidmore and UMass-Boston I think are missing the goaltender though.

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Looking at the ECAE this weekend--Norwich squares off against UNE and USM--and as far as I am concerned nothing should be taken for granted with either team. And I do appreciate all these NU doomsday scenarios of "what ifs" in some of the previous posts.....

That said, those teams five teams right behind the Cadets in the ECACE standings (Castleton, Babson, UMass, Skidmore and St. As) who all have 13 points seem have been scheduled to take shots at one another. :D

So here is another "what if":- for Norwich's sake that after the dust settles from those pie fights elsewhere in the ECAC-s--that the all five teams behind NU all end in some sort of weird draw that gives none of them any advantage over the other four teams.:D:D:D

Stay tuned....In the meantime:

Any fans planning on being at the Norwich UNE game on Friday night? Then you should try and make it to a pre-game gathering at TJ's Pizza at 366 Elm Street in Biddeford, Me. Tel: 207-284-6133.

A nice local crowd plus a bus from Northfield will gather between 4:30 and 5PM with plans to be in our seats over at the new UNE Hockey arena on the UNE campus by 7PM.

A second luncheon gathering is planned for 1PM at Sebago Brewery at 29 Elm Street, Gorham, ME at Saturday before the USM game. Another great turnout expected Details for both events are at this link.

Attention Cadet Fan: Last call for UNE and USM Pre GAME Festivities

Any fans planning on being at the Norwich UNE game on Friday night?

Then try and make it to a pre-game gathering at TJ's Pizza at 366 Elm Street in Biddeford, Me. Tel: 207-284-6133. A nice crowd of local "Cadet Mainiac" Alumni plus a bus load of fans from Northfield will gather between 4:30 and 5PM for food that will remind you of the mess hall on pizza night. Please no food fights. That gives everyone enough time to travel (about 15 minutes) over to the new UNE arena and be in our seats by 7PM. See you there.

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

One of the younger avid Norwich Fans here. Started coming to the games when I was 9 back in 1999. I remember watching my first game with my Dad (a 9-2 rompe of NEC), we were both newer to the game back then but were immediately captivated by Keith's play. We started coming to a lot of games the remainder of the year and the next year started going to almost all the home games. My dad and I became close with Keith and his dad (and later on Phil when he came to Norwich). He was one of the guys I looked up to the most growing up and he always took time after the games to talk for a bit. It was awesome watching him dominate the AHL and I'm extremely happy he is finally getting his shot in the NHL and hoping he stays there for the remainder of this short season. Have been coming to Norwich ever since to watch games and my dad and I are now season ticket holders. Keith is the one that got us hooked initially but the fans, arena, and atmosphere have kept us coming year after year. I'm now 22 and just graduated from UNH back in May. Even going to a big D1 hockey school I still followed Norwich more than I went to UNH games. Love Norwich hockey and that will never change. Go Cadets and Congratulations to Keith and his family.

Welcome to the board! Great to have another NU fan around

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

#1 Norwich takes on Univ. New England in a little over 50 minutes from the brand new Harold Alfond Arena in Biddeford, Maine.

The Cadets have some interesting changes in the lineup for tonight.

Tory Allan, Kyle Thomas and Dean Niezgoda all out of the lineup along with Pier-Olivier Cotnoir still out with injury.

Football kicker and hockey walk on Michael Schreiner dresses for his first game in the Marooon & Gold on the Cadets' fourth line centering Matt Baldino and Frank Gatien.

Sophomore Alec Thieda also makes the jump from defense to his first start as a forward jumping into Allan's spot on the Mulvey and Janke line.

Stay tuned....

Chris Czarnota gets the start in the net for the Cadets.

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Nice 4 point weekend for the Cadets, although they seem to be stymied by the defensive play of their opponents. Good to see the newer folks get some points.
