Does Midd do HD broadcasts over NSN, or just standard definition?

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Anyone know If Contnoir will be in the line up or how bad his injury is?

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Please, let us know...enquiring minds want to know...

I believe he will not be in the lineup this weekend. I am certainly not qualified to offer an opinion on the other half of the query.

Coach McShane told us on The Really Big Sports Show on NSNradio.net on Thursday morning it is a slight shoulder separation ... out at least two ... probably three weekends ... Coach is scheduled to be on with us every Thursday morning at 10:00 AM ... check it out!

Coach also told us it is very possible we'll get our first look at newcomer Ryan Whitell this weekend.

And yet that hit did not lead to a penalty :( . Through my Maroon colored computer screen it didn't look like a clean hit.

I watched it and it looked like one of those "roughelbowboardcharge" hits. That's when you could have called any of them and been correct, but none of them were obvious.

Very glad Puckvoice mentioned that the Cadets three quick goals last night reminded him of the "Old" Cadets of a few years ago who always seemed to score in bunches. Also that they spread the wealth around, 6 goals, 5 players.....Awesome!

The team looked good last night. Man I miss being at the games - this video stuff is good, but still, you don't get the full experience sitting on your couch.

What a lousy break for NU Captain Pier Oliver Cotnior. Most of us recall that as a highly touted incoming freshman he was hurt and had to sit out some of the earlier games at the start of his brilliant NU career. But when he did finally "arrive' that season two of my favorite goals that first season were: (1.) The goal to tie Middlebury in the closing seconds of the second period--in a regular season game--which we won 3 to 1. I will never forget it--he was literally going down on his back just as he fired his rocket into the net before ending up on his back and up sliding down the ice. Wow!

(2.) Then there was "THE shot" in Lake Placid that finished SNC at 19:29 in the double overtime for the NCAA Title. And since then it has been those superb one-off faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive slap shots--one after another.

What a player and I hope he heals quickly, returns when he is ready and shows us more of his great talent. Like I said, what a lousy break.

Delighted at the way the rest of the team has picked up the slack in his absence last night. Actually, I think UNE has more talent than the score indicates and they will find "their game" when they learn to channel their aggression. And how many times did they miss some real opportunities with silly offsides? Two? Three? But I do not like the idea of having to see them again in that small band box they play in as it seems to suit their style.

Last night was UMass-Boston (UMB) not UNE ;). But yes, agreed on all accounts.

Also, lets not forget the goal he scored against Elmira in the NCAA Quarterfinals...I know I'll never forget that one...

Sorry for my confusion between UNE and UBM

I was writing to quickly and actually have UNE on the brain. I am coordinating pre UNE-game gathering on Friday, January 25th at 5PM at TJ Pizza in Biddeford, Maine. Looks like an already large crowd signed up to attend with a bus coming over from Norwich.

And speaking of bandbox hockey arenas-- UNE is finally out of the dump they were in. UNE nows has a brand new barn on campus. I will post another reminder on this NU pre-game gathering before the UNE game--but if you plan to attend call Allison Sultan at the NU alumni office in Northfield.

Whew...and all that said---I still do not relish seeing the Cadets at UMass in late February. I hate that rink.

UNE had a nice new rink but it has it's quirks(like zero room behind the net which looks really strange) and some not so nice security officers...They made the players that were not dressed for USM wait in the stands amongst a hostile crowd until the end of the game....Also beware, UNE has a D1 transfer from Niagara in net and made 34 saves on 37 shots last night: he was supposed to come to USM but UNE must have had a better "package"....

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

If nobody else want to jump in on this, I understand, but what I saw was a team that was struggling at both ends through most of the game. I think the loss of Cotnoir really hurt all weekend. Hopefully with SMC coming up and a single game this weekend, they can get things back together.

They were totally out of synch with the power play all weekend, but didn't need it against UMB. Against Babson, converting only 1 of 6 power plays was just a killer.

I was surprised by some of the struggles against Babson. To be sure, Babson had something to do with that, but the defense seemed to struggle clearing the puck. It got marginally better with the goalie change (and gave up no goals after that), but the hole was dug. I thought the same change might have occurred during the Neumann game, as there appeared (to me) to be some tentative play going on early.

Power play problems were apparent when cross ice passes were not able to free anyone up to shoot, and with not much traffic in front of the net, it was kind of doomed.

SMC might be a chance to fix some things, but this is not the SMC of the past either.
