Norwich Cadets Hockey 2013: The Final Countdown...

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2013: The Final Countdown...

It's really a shame for you to post this libelous drivel. Your information is incorrect.
Nice work, Prez...let's hope "sister" is a graduating senior rather than a freshman...if this is what you get on post #5, I don't want to imagine another three years....

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2013: The Final Countdown...

Congratulations to Norwich and Nicholas Poulin for again having he player with the highest gpa from all the frozen ice final four teams!!! Igor Martinez won two in a row, and now Nick does. Charlie or Derek, is this 4 times in 5 years or something like that??

A big accomplishment nonetheless!!!
I realize I'm late in jumping in here but I just wanted to make a small correction...While a big Congrats is due Nick I'd just like to mention that Chris Gour actually has a higher GPA - may even be a 4.0 - and it's in Engineering. Can't quite figure out why he didn't win the award this year but may have to do with the timing of his broken hand and the paper work. Both deserve huge kudos and it's not easy being such a great student and athlete as well. Colin Mulvey is another with a high GPA= 3.7 or so also in Engineering. There are probably others with equally or near equally impressive grades. I don't know how any of them manage it all!

Norwich, I am proud to say, has had a history of some really strong students who also play hockey (or the other way around). I was fortunate enough in my 30 year career as a faculty member at Norwich to have had some of these individuals as students in my classes. That is one of the reasons that even in my isolation in Colorado, I continue to be a huge fan of the program. I respect what Coach McShane has accomplished at Norwich in building a program that represents the University with distinction. There have been a few duds in the classroom of course, but the vast majority that I have encountered have been excellent students and fine individuals as well. I can also say the same thing about the women's program (although, of course, there is a much shorter history).

Colin was also named 'Engineer of the Year', which is no small feat.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2013: The Final Countdown...

Congratulations to Norwich on a great season. I was just wondering why the Norwich bios on the website were not up to date? As a new Norwich fan, I enjoy reading opponents bios to see who they are, and what they have accomplished. Looking at the Norwich site, some of the freshmen had no bios at all, and no upperclassmen had 2011-2012 summaries. I also took a look at the 2011-2012 Media Guide, and thought it was first class.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2013: The Final Countdown...

Sorry to offend so many with my previous post. My post was more to confirm or bash a rumor, but I understand I posted it in a misleading way and looked like I was trying to state a fact. Didn't mean to start anything or talk badly about anyone on the team. Love the whole Norwich team and don't like to hear about players being cut or anything either. My apologies to anyone that was offended, that was the last thing I intended to do. Looking forward to next year, enjoy the off season.

Who are you to question my comment, the validity of my sister's statement, and my inexperience on the board? I admit it was poor judgement on my part to share the post so soon and without 100% confirmation. My "sister" (your words) has told me many things over her time at Norwich, most that I disregarded. After hearing this and hearing from another source I simply wanted to discuss this with others on the board and catch people's thoughts. As you pointed out, yes this in fact only my 6th post now (cue the noob jokes here). I'm sorry if I misunderstood the board and thought that this was a good discussion topic if it was correct. I owned up to my mistake but I don't think there is any place for these comments either. Sorry I haven't racked up 1,923 comments (since we are talking numbers now) but I've been watching Norwich hockey for 10 years now and wanted to jump in and discuss things once in a while. I know I'm not as experienced in these forum discussions but next time a simple statement that I'm out of line will do, no need for such discouragement. In D3 hockey where I welcome any new fan, this is not the way to make someone feel welcome or good at all. My apologies again for the post, but maybe we should be a little less quick to anger and a little more easy going. When it's all said and done, we are all fans of the great sport of hockey and watching/routing for our great teams (no matter what colors you sport). I've said my piece, sorry to anyone I offended in the past.

You go Colin. It was so much fun to watch him skate this year. I really thought him and Tory had a great on ice relationship. I will miss not seeing them in D3 any more.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2013: The Final Countdown...

As a parent of one of the graduating seniors, I wanted to thank the administration, teachers, coaching staff, Norwich alumni and the residents of Northfield, Vermont, for providing my son with a richly rewarding educational, sports and life experience. Because of the environment fostered by the school and town, students and their family members are immediately absorbed into the Norwich community. There is no doubt in my mind that this feeling of community will continue for years to come. My wife and I have made friends with alumni, current and former students, locals, teachers, and coaches which we cherish. Of particular note, I would like to thank Coach McShane and Coach Mattson for watching over the “boys” and helping to shape them into becoming the leaders of tomorrow. The Norwich Hockey Program is one of the most prestigious and well run ice hockey programs in DIII. The “boys” that are recruited are respectful, smart and dedicated to the sport and the team. This is a monument to the coaching staff, administration and boys themselves. I will miss attending the games but will continue to watch on the internet and listen to George. Thanks for four great years. Good Luck to all the seniors.

Well said, even though I am Cardinal fan, I must agree with everything. I suspect your son remembers a game as a freshman against Wisconsin-Stout

Comments like that make me feel very proud to have been part of Norwich for over 30 years as a faculty member. Thank you

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2013: The Final Countdown...

Trying to keep track of Mulvey in Fort Worth I notice Eric Talent had a goal and a asst. in game one of their first playoff game.
