Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I was not able to see the Fast Hockey feed as I was otherwise occupied ... lol.
Appreciate those of you who chose to watch them and listen to us!
Curious ... did they use their own cameras or were they plugged into the Sox in house system? We made extensive use of it on our broadcast ... watching it on the big screen on top of the centerfield bleachers ... what we saw up there was EXCELLENT ... and the clarity of that board was the best I have ever seen ... wish we had one close to that at Kreitzberg.

I watched it in high def, the picture was excellent and they followed the play well. I tried at first to listen to WDEV and watch fasthockey but there was at least a 10 second delay that I'm not smart enough to figure out (sorry). Don't think it was the inhouse cameras, but might have been the NESN cameras, as they were up for the UVM game last week and will be used today for the Div I and High School games today.

fixed your post :D

I tried to synch you with the tv feed, but couldn't do it. Had to listen to you between periods and post game

George I would think that WDEV along with NSN could certainly spring for a big screen in Kreitzberg. Also an broadcaster with the honors you have certainly would be willing to have one put up under his name. :):)

Four lineup changes for the cadets today as they prepare to take on umass
Boston at 3 pm at the Clark athletic center.

Thomas, Houston, Hale and Gatien out.

Paquet, Gore, Poulin and Currier in

Carroll in the net.

I was impressed by the fasthockey feed...the angles were awkward, but the quality of the picture on the HQ feed was awesome. Hopefully that kind of vid quality comes to NSN in the near future.

tomorrow's game has "trap" written all over it, after the hype surrounding today's contest. Hopefully the boys reserved some emotional energy for UMB. They've been playing pretty well of late.

I hate it when you're right. UMB really outplayed Norwich and deserved the win. Just too much emotion over the weekend I guess. It gets the elephant off the teams back at least. I doubt that they will lose 1st place in the poll, Oswego has been snake bitten too and we beat Plattsburgh, so I think that is secure, for whatever thats worth. However, Castleton must be happy to be tied for first instead of second in the ECAC EAST.

So much for my pick of Wick going unbeaten.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Norwich will drop to third in the USCHO poll, behind Plattsburgh and Oswego, but it doesn't mean anything. The Cadets will finish with maybe 3 to 4 losses, but will still make the final four. You heard it here first....

I still think that they will stay at 1

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

At the risk of catching the ire of the other Norwich faithful, the Cadet's body of work has not warranted a #1 rating. Sure, they win the games they are supposed to, but by scores that are closer than a #1 should be, and they lose to a team that they should easily handle, regardless of the fact that they played in Fenway the night before. Don't get me wrong, I fully expect that they will be in the final four, but they will have some blemishes on thier record.

I respectfully disagree on almost every account.

Norwich will still be #1. They will lose some first place votes but thats it. This weekend was a very trying weekend starting with the hoopla of Fenway and going down there on Thursday and not being able to practice. Then you have all the events of Friday...Saturday you have four roster changes, your leading scorer and most dynamic player out, and an opponent playing you like its their national championship with a goaltender that played out of his dome.

When you're ranked #1 you're supposed to win every game aren't you? Going undefeated in today's game is basically impossible now. Too many good teams, too many games, too many factors that play into it nowadays.

UMass-Boston wanted it more tonight. Plain and simple. They were an overmatched team talent and skill wise but they had an outstanding goaltender performance and they hustled down every loose puck and had the extra kick in their steps that Norwich seemed to be lacking.

A loss to UMass-Boston isn't the end of the world. Plenty of games left to play and now Norwich doesn't have to deal with the pressure of trying to go undefeated anymore. Obviously you never want to lose in conference, but it happens. Norwich just has to win now, especially against Castleton in order to secure home ice.
