For hawk. More on UNE Ice Hockey Arena:

The official ground breaking on the entire complex took place this past September. The new building will include a 106,500-square-foot facility featuring an ice hockey rink with 900 seats; a basketball court with 1,200 seats; classroom and lab space; a fitness center; and multi-purpose indoor practice courts that can also be used for performances and other events, with a combined seating capacity of 3,000. The facility is expected to open this fall (2012)

For PrezdeJohnson09

That was me with about a dozen of "The Boys of 66." We only travel in packs. I will likely make it to the St. A's game and/or UNE over in New Hampshire. I shall look forward to seeing you then.

If Kyle was able to skate and play the way he was capable of it might have made a difference. But that rink is so tiny UMB might have been able to limit his effectiveness.

As OldRook said, they were extremely successful in taking the body any time a Norwich forward tried to carry the puck into the zone.

OldRook, I don't think I've officially met you yet and I'd like to get the chance next time you're at the Berg. Let's make plans to meet up.

I'm fairly confident I saw you at UMB since you were wearing a cap that said Old Rook on the front and 66 on the back. Do I have the right man? :)

Never had a chance to come down and say hi though unfortunately.

I met Old Rook at Lake Placid. He's a decent guy (most Norwich fans are...I did say most)

As for Kyle, you are probably right. We probably need to take a couple of big defensemen and have them play up front on the fourth line. No excuses though. Losing is never good, but if you are going to have to take a loss, better now than in Late Feb/March

Out of curiosity, do you know the ice size?

Pasha was pretty effective and bringing the puck into the zone. He's the only one that really stood out doing that. I noticed him a couple of times roll off a few checks and get the puck deep.

I am curious. What happen to those new "camel" colored (or are they "tan") :o uniforms that the boys wore in the Northfield Tournament and we were suppose to see at Fenway? Not that I miss them or actually want to see them again but I am just curious. I do like putting the kid's names on the back which is something the team should look at doing next season. It is a big help to those of us who are "older than dirt."

I don't think we'll ever see the guys go to fulltime having the names on the back of the jerseys on regular uniforms with the current powers to be.

The tan jerseys are still around and it was originally planned to have them on at Fenway. The guys that didn't dress and skated early in the morning were wearing the third jerseys and the decision must have been made to switch to the traditional maroon aways later on.

I think you'll see them worn a couple more times this year. Might even be this weekend against st. Mikes.

I think you are two years older than I am (my undergrad degree was '68), but always said that I had been teaching at Norwich since "dirt was new," but I think it is classier not to have your name on the back. The names are too small to read, and isn't that what programs and numbers are for? If you don't know #15 is Thomas, you won't be helped by having it say "Thomas" on the back anyway. It seems narcissistic to want to have your name on the back. I have always liked it that Norwich didn't fall into that style. I also liked the sweaters because they went back to the script Norwich, which I like a lot better than having that big glob they have on the front of the current sweaters.

It would be narcissistic for the PLAYER to want their name on their jersey- but IMO - it is token respect for the player and a fan courtesy (even of only the opposing fans can't associate the numbers with names) for the school to put the names on the jerseys.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Well to be honest, I could live without the names and would actually love much simpler uniforms. White sweaters with a maroon"N" maybe trimmed in gold and visa versa for home uniforms.

Clean, simple and classic.

Honestly? I like the Middlebury sweaters for that very reason--they make a simple powerful statement. Even as a former loyal member of the Corp, I think our boys have reached a level where they do not need 21st Century cartoon figure graphics waving sabers to send a message. But then again I am old fashion.

I'm farsighted, and I can't read the names on the back of visiting team unless they are smashed against the glass right in front of me. I always go through the roster of the visiting team and look for the numbers I want to keep an eye on. I'd actually rather they would put numbers on the front of the sweater instead of just on the back. I, too, like the Middlebury look - but I liked the script Norwich on the uni that preceded the garish, left-handed Cossak raider that we have now. Understated shows class. Wasn't wild about the color of those "third" sweaters, but I liked the design. If they had been white, I would have been ecstatic.
