Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Make it happen, we'd definitely sell out the CC

Yeah let me get right on that as the primary Norwich men's ice hockey schedule maker ;)

I'd love to get back to my alma mater and the old stomping grounds and hit up Greene's for a pre-game beverage and wings with jabber. :)

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Prez isn't there any way Norwich can schedule a game with Oswego each year. It would add a lot of excitement to D3 hockey in the east and good compeition.

Oswego says they are all in for a 4-year home and home series pending you paying off your steak bet to Charlie.

The puck is in your net. :D

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Thomas is Musselwhite with more of a physical, finesse, edge game etc and a bit more of a knack for finding the net whether it be through brute strength or what have you. Musselwhite had a nice pair of mitts on him and his hands are better than Kyle's. I'd give anything to watch the two of them in a race though. That'd be epic.

IDK I watched that video a couple of times and I went and watched a video of Neil from his freshman year... I think Neil was faster.

I watched both videos. THe Musselwhite one, he recieved the pass at the top of the face off circle already skating out, and it took 5 seconds from recieving the pass to the shot.
In the Thomas video, at 03 seconds he was standing on the face off dot looking at his own net. At the 9 second mark, the goal was scored. IMO, based on the video evidence, you'd have to declare Thomas the clear winner.

It's possible yes. Norwich has an extra game to play with every year now that the Interlock is gone.

It's quite a hike from Oswego to Norwich though and I'm sure both teams would want to maximize it if they were going to do it and try and schedule two games for the weekend.

It'd be a great thing to see for sure.

You don't think Norwich would be willing to travel to Oswego for a game? I don't know. The way the two teams have been ranked continually over the past decade tbey would be crazy not to. Oswego could easily give up a non conference game with Curry for Norwich and Norwich could easily give up its D1 game to play a DIII team that coukd help their NCAA chances. I don't see why or how its not doable. Just make the trip to Oswego for a game. Skip playing a meaningless game like Dartmouth and go to Oswego......the ECAC East has one of the smallest average conference travel distances of all conferences. They could start a real rivalry for many years to come. Heck who knows maybe some year the visiting team will leave the trophey on the ice and skate away.....

....yes everything I said above was TIC....based on the Plattsburgh vs Elmira arguement ....while it would be amazing to see both Oswego and Norwich have other closer top 15 teams to play as a "regular" opponent. For Norwich to travel the 350 miles one way to Oswego for one game (because they can't fit two unless they get rid of the Primelink, Plattsburgh, Midd or their own Holiday tourney) it just wouldnt make much sense in todays economy. Lower gas prices back to $1.00 a gallon and have Norwich make a Friday night pit stop in Utica and a Saturday dance in Oswego....just don't expect Utica to travel to Norwich the next year...that would go against their 2 NC away game max a season.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

For the most up to the minute news ...
Norwich men's hockey coach Mike McShane joins Commo and Healey "live from the bus" as the Cadets head for Boston and Friday's Frozen Fenway game against Babson ... that's on The Really Big Sports Show ... Thursday morning at nine on NSNradio.net .

Another option for at least one year would be OZZ get an invite to the Primelink. The games could be determined so the Birds & Ozz do not play each other.
(Day 1 Midd-Ozz, Wick-Birds) (Day 2 Midd-Birds, Wick-Ozz.) Ozz could always give up their X-mas tournament to make room for the extra 2 games.:D:D

Pre determined games? Big heck no. Invite them to your tourney and play them in the opening round. Dont change the Primelink for a team. Ozz can give up games...its Norwich who needs to give up games...

Currently that would work but if Oswego changes the dates on their tournament to get off of the new years/new years eve cycle then they would conflict.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Ozz could still keep their X-mas tournament. They would just have to give up 2 NC games. It does not matter to me which barn this one Primelink is played. The pre determined tournament would probably have a larger fan base than past Primelinks. Certainly would be the best tounament of the year except for the NCAA final 4.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I would like that myself :-)

"Item location: Rural Wisconsin, United States", I think someone better rescue it ;)

BTW, I did find pages 86-89 of this interesting (Excerpt below).

Alden Partridge is an interesting figure and further study of him in understanding military academy growth is essential to any complete knowledge of the subject. In particular, he was superintendent at West Point and later appointed as president at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont beginning in 1819. Partridge was actually one of West Point’s greatest critics citing that their poor graduation rates impeded effectively filling officer ranks in the Army. Perhaps more importantly was his philosophy of a citizen-controlled military. Many see his views and efforts as precursors to the ROTC program.

Although a number of other posters seem willing to pay off the bet to make the games possible, hawk for the sake of fans would have no choice but to buy the steak if the games are scheduled. All I would ask would be the chance to buy an Oswego ticket for the away game. Utica/Oswego would also make a great weekend as long as Oswego was the first game. Speaking of the Norwich/Dartmouth game I realize the game doesn't count but a lot of fans including myself consider it interesting to compare D1 and D3 to see how the compeition compares.

I am going to take a rain check on the Fenway game and check out the Plattsburgh/Middlebury game on Friday which has to be considered on the best games this weekend.
