Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

All Thursday activities at Fenway Park have been cancelled due to weather, including a Norwich practice.

Tomorrow's events are still on as scheduled currently.

Prezde, will Norwich be wearing a "special" or alternative jersey at Fenway Park?

And thanks for stopping by my end of Krietzberg between periods. I enjoyed the opportunity to talk with you in person. Thomas' empty netter was a real gem of a goal.

Prof,

Pleasure to meet you and to put a face to all the well thought out posts. Enjoy the rest of the season, I will be watching on NSN.

Yes, they are wearing the same jerseys they wore in the Morrisville game where Thomas scored the empty netter as seen below in this thread somewhere.

Congratulations are in order once again for George Commo being voted Sportscaster of the Year for Vermont. Award willl be presented at the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association banquet. Well deserved and hard earned.

Might be a small state, but taking it 10 times is nevertheless quite noteworthy, this is same award that goes to the likes of Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play announcer Vin Scully, who won his 31st California Sportscaster of the Year Award; University of New Hampshire play-by-play announcer Jim Jeannotte (23rd New Hampshire Sportscaster of the Year Award); Indiana University play-by-play announcer Don Fischer (22nd Indiana Sportscaster of the Year Award).

Need some help please. What time is the game today? The Norwich & Babson websites say 3:30, but it is listed as 7:00 elsewhere. I understand there will be online video and I'd hate to miss it. Thanks

Game time is 3:30PM and will be video streamed on "Fast Hockey".

According to the Fast Hockey site, Norwich/Babson game delayed until 4 PM. Go Cadets.

WDEV just said broadcast starts at 4:04, puck drops at 4:30.

one last edit, George Commo now annouces game will start at 4 PM as the zambonnies are working and the broadcast will start 3:35PM.

Just finished watching the NU/Babson game. A solid 4-1 performance against a very typical Babson team--in that they never seem to quit regardless of the score or stage of the game. We will see them again and when we do--once again they will come to play full three periods.

Good broadcast by Fast Hockey once they got some technical issues solved (learned to use Firefox not Safari for sound). Their two broadcasters are better than in their past broadcasts in as much as the pair seemed more knowledgeable about both teams and Div III programs overall.

However, I found myself tuning into and listening to George Como on my iPad between periods and even for part of the game simply because his descriptive narratives really reflect the excitement of the game. Its no wonder he has been named Vermont's best sports broadcaster year after year. Congratulations George! :)

Nice start of another weekend....now it is time to roll against UMass/Boston.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I tried to synch up WDEV and the FastHockey broadcast but couldn't - finally just played the Fast Hockey Audio, which wasn't too bad. Only problem was when the stream went down for me just before the third goal.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I am surprised you didn't make the trip NUProf, I too watched FastHockey but I chose to listen to Commo and Acebo for that home town touch. Wasn't that an incredible sight to see the Norwich Color Guard and Paua Gilles at the game. She sounded wonderful and it must have been a thrill for her. Great Game Cadets, go inside and have to hot chocolate to warm up, another game tomorrow you know.;)

I lost the stream at the same time. I think it was at the same time they got the audio going on the SD stream. It took four or five tries to get it back.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I was impressed by the fasthockey feed...the angles were awkward, but the quality of the picture on the HQ feed was awesome. Hopefully that kind of vid quality comes to NSN in the near future.

tomorrow's game has "trap" written all over it, after the hype surrounding today's contest. Hopefully the boys reserved some emotional energy for UMB. They've been playing pretty well of late.

I would have gone, but I had other commitments :(. If the game had been on Saturday, I would have been there.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Fun to watch, however, I wish the announcers would have called the action better. They spent W-A-A-A-Y-Y too much time discussing "hockey stuff" while the game was going on on the screen. Still, all in all it was a good broadcast....I still wish it was on NESN, hell, they're doing a HS game tomorrow from Fenway in a double header with Northeastern and BC.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I agree, the announcers at least knew some facts but the weren't commenting on the play much, almost like they were board with the game and started talking history of DivIII ECAC hockey. Picture/video was very clear but choppy, couldn't see the puck half of the time. But it was fun to watch and listen to George yell score about 15 sec before the goal happened...nice warning for those of us with bad eyesight. "OKay everyone, pay attention, here it comes."They did a good job under some tough conditions.
