Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.
Thank you, that's what we really love to hear. Kreitzberg is a gem, and the people of Central Vermont have really embraced the team. As a retired faculty member I'm very proud of what we have put together here. It's a great ad for the school.
Next year we get an ex. game against Dartmouth down there. That will be fun (although I will have mixed emotions about that one)
I'm a Brown fan who tagged along with my friend, who is a Curry alum, to the Norwich/Curry game.
First of all, I want to say that I left the arena very impressed with almost every facet of the experience. The arena was great with excellent sightlines, the fans were devoted and into the game (much more so than Brown's fans, which is sad to say given that we participated in the first-ever game of college hockey), and the play itself was of good quality. Norwich could skate with quite a few D-I teams, and, I don't think it's a stretch to say, would be a solid, middle-of-the-road Atlantic Hockey team. Curry was not a bad squad by any means, but they were simply overwhelmed by the quality of Norwich.
But back to the arena: I thought the food was great, the price was unbeatable for an NCAA tournament game, and the atmosphere as a whole was fun and enjoyable, even as someone who was sort of pulling for the men in purple. The student section seemed to rattle the Curry goalie early and often, and I don't think many of the players were used to playing in what was essentially a D-I, Hockey East-type atmosphere.
Once again, I left Norwich very impressed, and I wish you good luck as you search for your second title in a row!
