Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Because some other teams have various edges in criteria over Norwich.....but not over Babson. If you concede Adrian one of the Pool C's, then Norwich is competing with Trinity, Plattsburgh & Geneseo for the two remaining spots. I believe they only beat Trinity out.

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

As i said in another thread, you'd think making it to the finals in your own conference would be worth more than getting beat in the semi's like P'Burg and Trinity did, thus giving the edge to Genny and Norwich.

Boy all we heard a few years ago when Norwich was bounced early was how it doesn't matter....

They are only supposed to look at the criteria, not whom you lost your last game to, or where it was played.

Norwich's fate is all down to who wins the NESCAC, if Amherst win's they've got a much better shot at being in the tournament, if Bowdoin wins my money is on Trinity getting in.

I think Geneseo and Adrian have the first two spots spoken for

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

No matter what happens tonight, 2013-2014 was a great reboot year for the Cadets.

Should NU not advance Great Job Coach
And All the players
And will be looking to ANOTHER GREAT SEASON AT THE "BERG" NEXT YEAR

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

And another thing or two: it seems strange to me that Norwich seems to out-shoot the opposition 2 -3 to 1 but when they have the man advantage they simply pass the puck around and seldom shoot. What is THAT about? I never get too excited when they go on the power-play because I know it will be a waste of 2 minutes of game time. They go right back to shooting (and seldom scoring) as soon as the opponent gets out of the penalty box. Or am I dreaming this up? Other people who sit around me have noticed the same things.

That's what I've seen from out here. Heck, half the time they got more of a power play-type movement of the puck when they were 5x5. It's not like they haven't had a dynamic PP in the past but the last two years it has been way too static. You have to make the defense move their feet, and they haven't

What you've seen is what we get. Lots of passing, some of it good, and very few shots. It's like they don't trust their own ability to shoot with a man up.

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

We are in with Salem State coming to Norwich for a play-in game.

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

It's time to re-ignite the Norwich-Salem State rivalry... so many good meetings between the teams when the Vikings were a member of the ECAC East

So the last team out was indeed Trin-Trin. SOS ultimately does matter. Their NC schedule hurt them big time, although ours wasn't the greatest

As best as I can figure ... last Norwich/Salem State game ... a 6-3 Cadets win at Kreitzberg ... November 22nd, 2008.

As best as I can figure ... last Norwich/Salem State game ... a 6-3 Cadets win at Kreitzberg ... November 22nd, 2008.

Norwich Athletics Release:

"NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's ice hockey team will host Salem State University in a NCAA Tournament First Round game on Wednesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at Kreitzberg Arena.

The Cadets received one of four at-large bids into the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year after falling to Babson College 2-1 in the ECAC East Tournament Championship on Saturday.

Norwich (19-6-3) makes its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 15th overall appearance with this year's selection. NU has lost in the national semifinals the last three seasons.

Salem State (16-9-2) won its first MASCAC Tournament title with a 5-1 victory over Plymouth State on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings are a former ECAC East rival of Norwich's before they left the league after the 2008-09 season for the newly-formed Massachusetts state school league. Salem State is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1995.

Norwich leads the all-time series with Salem State 31-15-1. The Cadets won the last meeting between the two schools 6-3 on Nov. 22, 2008 at Kreitzberg Arena.

The winner of Wednesday's First Round game will face the winner of Geneseo/Nichols on Saturday in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals."

Second MASCAC title. They beat Fitchburg in 2010 in OT to claim the 1st MASCAC tournament.
