Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Can we assume that the boys from MSOE found all their gear and are now safely in Northfield getting ready for the game? What a bummer for them to make such a long stressful trip. :( Good luck Cadets. :)

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Just heard that the equipment arrived but the team is exhausted from their awfully long trip. Not sure how well they will play under these circumstances which is not what any of the fans want to see and I feel bad for them. Too bad they couldn't have made the trip a day early.

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

I hope the Cadets come out of their scoring slump. That 5-0 win last night was more like a 2-0 win since it was fairly obvious that MSOE ran out of gas. NU needs to finish much better. Today's game with Amherst should tell the tale of where the Cadets will end up this season. A tough string of games coming up.

did i read correctly, MSOE with 3 shots on goal?

That is correct. This entire experience for MOSE had to have been like traveling through Dante's Inferno. Hats off to them...they deserved some better breaks. Meanwhile, Amherst is now the start of a real test of what kind of stuff this new generation of Cadets are really made of. Good luck.

5-1 over Amherst to win their own tourney. Hope this is the catylist to carry them through the next 5 games in the next 10 days.

The game against Amherst was the best I have seen all year and it does appear that Wick has overcome their scoring slump, especially on the power play, 3 for5 last night, 2 for 5 tonight, .500 for the weekend. Got to like Pelletier and glad Cody Smith back in the line up. Amhearst, prior to this weekend had only given up 2 goals per game and gave up 3 against Plymouth and 5 against Norwich. Impressed that Norwich kept the puck at the Amhearst end most of the game, outshooting them by 20.

What was up with the poor officiating? Bad calls on both sides.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I have looked at the stats from prior years and it seems that our defense is really helping out on the offense. We are half way through the season and the defense has contributed 43 assists and goals, and Ryan Whitell has 13, Hale has 10 and Smith has 9 (after missing some games due to injury). If the D keeps this up, they should be the highest scoring defense at least the past 5 years. You are the stats guy Prez, what do you think?

Keep it up guys and good luck at Fenway. Is it going to be broadcast on the internet?

Yes, on WDEVradio.com ... where it ALWAYS is! :)

Thanks VT bragging rights, now I can watch the Babson broadcast and listen to George on the radio. Should be a great game and entertainment on Thursday night!

I have found that if I put the "foreign" video up on my TV, they are almost always just a bit behind DEV. I use my iPhone (with the non-flash version) to stream the DEV audio. When they come on and George starts to describe the action ("the puck is on the ice, and the game is underway") I pause the phone... when the puck drops on the video, I hit play and I've gotten pretty good at getting things to match up. The only problem comes in when the video buffers. Then synchronization can be annoying. The Primelink was obviously the worst case of that all year.

I agree, it was annoying. Don't have a smart phone but I listen over the internet which is closer in time to the video than the radio. I may go buy HMDI cable to get the game on my TV.

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

When young William Pelletier cranked up and fired off that 4th goal from just inside the blue line last night I thought I was seeing a vision of a ghost of Christmas’ past (Pier-Olivier Cotnoir). What a great shot and greater weekend for this young talent. :)

The Cadets seemed more like a team in this last game than at any time up to now.

That is the team they need to bring to Boston for their visit with Babson. It occurred to me that the Babson Skating Center is five feet smaller in width than playing at Norwich. Their lower ceiling also makes their barn seem smaller. Seems Babson has given up home ice and maybe some perception of rink size to play under the bright lights of Fenway. But if they are as good as they seem, I am not sure how much size, perception, what ever will impact how they play their game.

On the flip side, while Norwich’s penalty minutes overall are low by comparison to most DIII teams—within the ECAC-E, Babson is much lower averaging (5.33 minutes per game) a bit more than half of NU’s average of 9.43 minutes per game. NU has to stay out of the box. Norwich owns the store in terms of offensive scoring but both teams are even up in defense. What does all add up to? Discipline and teamwork may win this. No dbout it will be a great game and maybe who will be king of the regular season ECAC-E hill at the end of the season. Good luck Cadets.

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

I don't what the deal was with the ref last night. He was sure making a lot of calls that didn't seem to make any sense. Some of the calls on NU were really ticky tack, as were some on Amherst.

That being said it was a very good overall effort by the Cadets. This will be a challenging weekend for sure.

Especially when the weekend starts on Thursday night:D
