"Don't apologize, it's a sign of weakness." LJ GibbsNU56, lot of reasons for that...apologies it was a little later than normal. Castleton had a GA from their Athletic Comm office at the game so he was able to write a story during and right after the game without having to wait for my recap/stats.
The home SID always has a lot more responsibility on game day. I also had to tend to the media as a tv station and local paper reporter wanted to speak with players and coaches for both teams afterwards which I coordinate for every home game so that took up another 20 minutes.
Hopefully you were still able to enjoy my recap even though it took a little bit longer. I also had to finish my women's hockey story first from the 1pm game.
Hosting 4 games in 24 hours is no small feat. It's extremely taxing and takes up a lot more time than what you get to see.

Cool, I agree with Lou on there being no need to apologize but is nice to see some of the "behind the scenes".
Uh, that would be an excellent SKYPE session for a certain comm class at a certain School for Communication, Media and the Arts located on the shores of a very large, some might say "great", lake.....That was only a small glimpse...at some point I'll post an entire pre-game routine for me all the way back to the Monday of the week leading up to the games that I'm responsible for executing for every game so everyone has a glimpse into what we actually do behind the scenes to make the things that you see out on the ice happen.

This may sound crazy, but I really miss working in Sports Information...it is A LOT of behind the scenes work, and honestly, an SID doesn't get a quarter of the credit they deserve. However, it was fun! 4 games in 24 hours! Sounds like winter sport season!!
Sticks where did you work as a SID?
What field did you end up going in?I wasn't an SID. I worked as an intern in the Plattsburgh SID office. Worked very closely with a couple SIDs there. I tried to get into the field, but a) very competitive, as you know and b) my interviewing skills were lacking. If I knew then what I know now...
What field did you end up going in?
The restaurant business. Sometimes I look into Sports Info jobs, but most people want young blood right out of college, because of social media and their experience with it. I've been out of it for about 7 years. It was fun while it lasted.
Prez does a great job along with the whole team at Norwich. Would love to continue to get more info behind the scenes. I have been looking around for sports information jobs recently and always keep an eye on Norwich. Great field!
If you haven't had a chance take a look at our all-new Cadets Corner edition that the debuted yesterday with an inside look into Danny Booth, one of the rink staff in charge and making and maintaining the ice sheet at Kreitzberg each winter.
Where is it?
