Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

That was only a small glimpse...at some point I'll post an entire pre-game routine for me all the way back to the Monday of the week leading up to the games that I'm responsible for executing for every game so everyone has a glimpse into what we actually do behind the scenes to make the things that you see out on the ice happen.

Some of us know how much work you have to put in... :)

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

That is great Prez. Been really happy with the way Norwich has utilized social media and the ever changing digital landscape. I majored in marketing/advertising and work in the field, behind the scenes stuff is huge nowadays. Especially from a fans perspective it has been good seeing more. I think that might be the approach to relating the fans with the players more. I started going when I was young and was able to go to the Blue Line Partys and such where it was always great to meet the guys...especially as a young kid. Using social media and videos is really helping fill that void and relate the fan base with the team more.

Tanner and I learned a lot more about his story and we honestly could have turned this video into a mini-documentary with Danny's story.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and hoping for a very peaceful holiday season with some awesome hockey for all to enjoy!

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

So what does Vanecek do with all those photos? He can be seen incessantly snapping away from the Cadets' penalty box most home games? Are they available somewhere for public viewing? Must be thousands filed away somewhere.

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

I got the video on my computer and the audio on my phone. The DEV audio was almost a minute ahead of the video, and on my phone I can pause the audio. As soon as I got a time check from George, I paused the audio until the time on the scoreboard matched. Then i didn't have to listen to the Platts students mispronunciation of names. Got the video synched with the audio and it was just like any other home game. I get that Primelink wants to showcase the Platts communications students, but it was pretty brutal this year.

Brutal pretty much sums up the quality of the broadcast, although the video was great and didn't buffer once. Being a former educator, I know the value of realistic "on the job training", but I don't think the announcers practiced pronouncing both the Norwich and Conn College players names before the contest. There is no excuse for that, seeing as the names are readily available on the teams rosters. I did not catch the Plattsburgh/Middlebury game, so I don't know if knowing the Plattsburgh players made it any better. Another thing that drove me crazy was hearing "a Conn player picks the puck up behind the net, loses it, no still has it, passes to another Conn player, number 5, no number 6...um Jones, and now a save by Ostepchuk. picked up by um...now a shot by Norwich"..... it went on and on with lots of dead space in between. Sorry guys, but you could have done a much better job as compared to previous "Primelink" productions by PSUC's communication majors. I am sure tomorrow will be better now that the first time jitters are over.

As for the game, my only two criticisms for Norwich's performance, are that they are not crashing the net for rebounds and they are taking way too many penalties. That has been happening pretty much all season so far, and I am sure Coach McShane and the players are working on that. Tonight, I thought they passed the puck much better and the defense was pretty solid. Salvucci seems to know where to be ahead of each shot on net, he's a very smart player. I am really hoping to see more players charge the net and score, they have the ability, but seem to hesitate a bit. We need all four lines producing and that will be a key point tomorrow against a very talented Plattsburgh team. Good luck tomorrow night Cadets, you can beat the Cardinals.

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

Unfortunately, travel has resulted in my only attending two games so far this year... the home opener and tonight's game.

One thing I noticed at both games is that the in arena audio on 97.5 fm is 4-6 seconds behind the action whereas in past years it was spot on the action. Has something changed to cause this? Can it be "fixed"? Not a huge deal for me since tomorrow nights game is the only remaining home game that I will be in Vermont for, but I feel for the Norwich fans that were used to a great audio/live visual experience in past years and now have the delay.

Also, the program tonight and the schedule being handed out indicates the St. Michael's away game is January 9th but the online schedule indicates December 9th. If I recall correctly, George also said December 9th during tonight's WDEV broadcast. Can someone confirm that it is December 9th and that the published schedule is in error?

Thanks.

My guess is that this year's squad will be like we have seen in some past years and similar to the Patriots in some past years... they will struggle some but with practices and games will continually improve and be ready by the time the post season rolls around. That is my hope anyway. I think tomorrow night will be a challenging test for them.

For some reason the feed we use from Trns Video in Northfield for the rebroadcast insideKreitzberg is coming in on delay ... we have contacted them ... hopefully it will get fixed soon ... as to St. Mike's it was a VERY late change ... the game is December 9th.

Norwich is at Saint Michael's on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 6pm.

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

While I would have liked a different outcome, I really enjoyed last night's title game against Plattsburgh State. Congratulations to the Cardinals on a hard-fought win.

Norwich seemed like a whole different team once they changed goalies... not that I think the deficit they dug for themselves had much to do with Reichenbach's performance but had more to do with the defense.

I think one thing this year's squad learned from that game is that if they work hard they can play with the big dog... hopefully that less will serve them welll over the rest of the season.

I liked the OT format. The one thing about it (which is fine for a tournament, but not so much for a regular season game) is that having a game decided on the basis of play that is not standard hockey doesn't seem quite right. It seems like a 3-2-1-0 point system would be appropriate (with no decision after OT, go to the dreaded shoot-out).

Or - bag the shootout and accept the tie and one point apiece (3 reg win, 2 OT win, 1 OT loss, 1 tie). Eurosoccer is 3 win 1 tie so there is no point balance. Just winning pct would be points earned / (games played x 3). A team with all ties would be .333 instead of .500.

The US tradition until the nhl messed it up is that every game adds the same number of points to the standings. I know MLS also does the 3-1-0 thing, but I think that it should be a zero sum arrangement - you get the points your foe doesn't get.

I like the Primelink OT format of 4 on 4 to first whistle after 3 1/2 minutes and 3 on 3 for the remainder of the 7 minutes for a tournament game like Saturday night to reduce of chance of having to go to a shoot-out to decide the champion.

But for regular season play where you can have a tie, I prefer 5 on 5 (real hockey).

I thought we had it when Salvucci clanged that hard shot off the crossbar... I was halfway to standing up before I realized it had clanged out. Bummer.

Nonetheless a great effort and hugely entertaining game. Primelink does it once again... my favorite tournament of the season.

I agree, but this year's team seems to be feeling its way around in terms of confidence in themselves which was why I said that... and I meant big dogs (plural, not singular).
