Norwich 14-15

D3 Hockey does not play a national schedule - going west or coming east for a tourney and a couple games can't give you a clear picture of how players stack up across the East/West divide...conferences within the same region are tough enough....unless you want to let the computer do it (best stats win), this is the next best thing...I believer that is what Prez was about to say....:D

Which Division III sport does play a "national schedule"? Frankly, hockey has more regional crossover, in the regular season, than any other sport.

This has turned into something I didn't intend. Hockey does it differently than other sports. I wondered why. IMO (which is just that, an opinion) having regional All-Americans is goofy.

Re: Norwich 14-15

My bad...not sure I got what you were going for...I'm no expert in all things all American, but I am not sure the regional or multiple choice AA is exclusive to hockey in D3...I thought there were multiple favors in hoops...but I could be wrong.

Maybe it is time for an All American Vermont team? That is Norwich, Middlebury, Castlelton, and St. Mike's...........

If NU maintains their level of excellence, Castleton takes the leap everyone predicts (I refuse to praise them for ANYTHING), and Midd can get their mojo back, a VT "All-State" team could actually be pretty impressive!

Awwww, c'mon, man... you have a whole 2015-2016 season ahead of ya! No way your first post can be that negative... plenty of Hockey to be played, yet. And welcome to the forum, BTW!! (stay positive, baby!) ;)

Cheers!!!

Pretty cool the defending national champions will be coming to Kreitzberg next season for the Northfield Savings Bank!

NU will also open the season vs. ECAC northeast champion and NCAA tourney participant Nichols.

Great season. I very much appreciate this board and everyone who has contributed. It's been awesome to find a place where I can share my enthusiasm as a geographically-challenged Cadets fan. I look forward to next season and hopefully another run at a national title. Thankfully, it's baseball season and I get to follow my beloved (and much improved!) Baseball Cadets. And KRB, I'll be sure to head over to the D3 football forums in the fall to represent Norwich and the ECFC (except for Castleton. Screw them.).

Sounds good! Go Cadets!

Lots of D3 connections right now to Men's Hockey Frozen Four.

RIT is obvious.
Providence is where McShane used to coach. Jon Gillies grandfather played goalie at Norwich in the 60's.
Nebraska Omaha assistant is none other than former Castleton Coach Alex Todd.

...and Laker family member Evan Rodrigues of BU, younger brother of Mr. Overtime Paul Rodrigues...

Jon Gillies' grandfather huh? Wow. So, both he and Johnny Gadreau - who were both Northeastern commits at one point btw (imagine how different the landscape of HE might be if they both ended up there!) - had a relative who played at NU! That's pretty awesome stuff.

Re: Norwich 14-15

North Dakota's forward Drake Caggiula played with SUNY-Potsdam's goalie Jon Hall and SUNY-Brockport's goalie Aaron Green as well as SUNY-Geneseo's D'man Jack Caradonna on the 2010-11 Stouffville Spirit's team ;)

Quite the stretch Norm...quite the stretch but I guess if we can't find a better one we'll go with it.

In all seriousness, great Frozen Four matchups. Love the new blood with Providence and Nebraska Omaha setting up the battle of the titans in the nightcap with Boston U and North Dakota. Imagine how crazy a ticket price a Boston U/Providence final will be at TD?
