Re: Northeastern Huskies Offseason (Discipline: let's find it)
Bob Gaudet is a solid coach who has rebuilt two Ivy programs (Brown & Dartmouth). He gets good kids at Dartmouth, just not enough to withstand injuries and defections, which have happened in recent years.
He is a Dartmouth grad and his sons played there for him. He has been coaching in the Ivy League and ECAC for more than 20 years, so may not be interested in moving to HE with a team that has rarely been able to crack the top four. However, if the salry figure mentioned is accurate, that and the chance to build another program could interest him. Keith Allain would be a great choice, if N'eastern could get him to leave Yale.
I think one of the concerns about losing Albie is that he has long term potential and that he was responsible for some of the recruiting in the past. While it would hurt to see him go, a new coach like Allain (who has shown a great recent track record of recruiting) would make the loss a lot more manageable. I have no idea why Gaudet would be seriously considered, sometimes I forget Dartmouth even has a mens hockey team. Not really impressed with him, although I should just be happy that USHR is not reporting our interest in Blaise anymore.
