Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

The difference tonight - Primeau's goaltending and NU finishing chances. BC had so many rushes, so many opportunities, but couldn't make them count. I thought NU got too creative trying to break out of their own zone, not wanting to just dump it, and the Eagles were ready, able to keep them pinned in. Some bad giveaways in there. I thought the Huskies were lucky not to pay dearly for many of those, but a lot of that was due to Primeau being his game. Big players stepped up on offense.

+1

Find those lanes, make the simple plays, get pucks on net
rest will take care of itself. Here's hoping

they did this.

btw, the 'looseness; / having fun also goes for Primeau..
before he won his Hockey East accolades, was playing/ saving with a certain confidence & swagger.. the OT goal against the Friars, couple other instances with the puck lying loose.. he gets those if he just plays with the calmness that won him those honors just about month/ 6 weeks ago. He has it.. just needs to find it.
Go Huskies :)

he found it.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

All around a great showing from NU. CP was very calm, cool and collected for a true freshman making his beanpot debut. The big 3 came to play and everyone else did their job.

After a late one BU it is. Didn't mind who NU would be facing, but from a pairwise perspective I'm glad it's BU as a win against them will pay higher dividends than a win against Harvard at the moment. Up to 13 in the PW and it'd be nice to crack the top 10 somehow prior to league playoffs. Hopefully last night was a start to what will be a strong finish for NU.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

That Stevens goal brought me back to the 2011 final when McNeely scored NU's 4th goal of the game. I think they have a lot of similarities in their game, though Stevens has the upper hand in stick handling.

UConn the day after.

They should practice playing loose & finding those lanes. Then execute playing that way Fri. Just play having fun Friday. Get pucks deep, stick to the basics. (Primeau, he already nailed this state of being :))

.. and then hopefully be confident & treat Monday like just another outing.. having played at Garden this week already. Have fun, closeout the gms confidently.

Friday first. Everything else after. Let's get in the right frame of mind. Go Huskies

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Question: The first round of Hockey East playoffs this year, 6 v 11, 7 vs 10, 8 vs 9. Are these single game series or best two out of three?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

It's the exact same as it has been, just 5 gets a real bye instead of a de-facto bye because there's no 12.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

I saw NU is trying the "come to the game Friday to buy a Beanpot final ticket" strategy. I'm not a fan of that strategy myself. If I were a casual fan and didn't want to go Friday night, I'd be thinking "don't tell me what to do. Fine I just won't go on Monday".

I understand trying to increase attendance for Friday's game, but to make it so that the way to buy Beanpot tickets is to go....ehhh

they sold out all their allotment of (student) beanpot tickets for the finals gm, earlier in the week .. this was just if someone didnt get those or wanted additional tix. They procured additional for Fri nights gm. They also have a pretty good deal going for the UConn game itself.. well worth it. Plus its Olympics night.

They've also tried this in the past with WIH, making attending a WIH game a pre-requisite for purchasing a Beanpot ticket early which was very stupid. For tomorrow, it appears to me more of a last chance deal, which I don't have too much of an issue with. If this was the way they did the primary sale, linking it to a game (men's or women's) and not letting it stand on its own, then I'd have an issue. As a last-ditch effort to get kids to 1) come to a home game on campus for free and 2) have a final chance to get their ticket, this isn't too bad IMO

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Just randomly checking my FiOS channel line-up to see what's on tonight and find that NESN has the NU-UConn game listed. Surprised since I hadn't seen any advance on this.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

How nice for you. No need to make the 500 mile journey to Matthews. I believe this was set when the original schedule was announced. I wish NESN would do at least one of our road games - someplace that charges for the internet games (Bentley, Lowell etc.)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Griffin out for what I think is the first time in his Huskies career. He's on pace to have a shot at the games played record, too. Williams as well.

def a tough 1st..

now, regardless of outcome tonight..

just want to send a big 'get well' & godspeed to Mrs Konya.. Jeff Konya (our new AD & his family).. were taking in the hockey gm.. Mrs Konya, she was sitting in section couple sections over from us & was hit in head by a flying puck. Def will need stitches at the least as she was hurt pretty bad, just blindsided.

hopefully nothing worse. Again, best wishes to her, Jeff, and his family.. just unfortunate turn of events. hopefully not any omen for NU Hockey one way or the other & Godspeed to her!

As for tonight.. Go you NU Huskies !!!

God **** it! I know there is still another period to go, but *****......

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Not sure the rule on whistles, but if there was intent to blow the whistle there, I'm surprised they counted our goal.

Terrible game overall. Yuck
