Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

.. except one...the best chance of OT that we couldn't bury.

Really happy with the tie considering we were outplayed the majority of the game. Back in a tie for 1st!

i don't think he (filipe, i think it was), realized how much time he had..
he could have deked & walked that in.. it was a great pass. oh well, he's going to have to remember that & make something happen tomorrow. we gonna need it.

Team could have laid down tonight but battled back and tied. Cayden had a freshman moment but he is easily forgiven making the saves he does. Third goal Providence scored was NU looking lost and uninterested. They can easily regroup and win tonight making a 3 Point weekend a plus. Davies had a goal but when he has breakaway chances it’s cringeworthy in a funny way. Same with Picking, he always looses control of the puck but makes great breakup plays. One thing this team does have is character and individual character. I love this group. It if wasn’t frustrating we wouldn’t be Husky fans right.

This has Quote of the Year potential. :p

I have been a fan long enough to know the heartbreak. I don’t even look forward to the Beanpot anymore. I’ve seen the refs take that game away from us too many times. Making the tournament is my goal as a fan and a HE championship. The Beanpot win will come and of course I will be thrilled but I don’t look forward to it anymore.

he (filipe), did remember... & gets us on the board tonight.

Looks like a close one, 1-1 9min left. Can't watch but following the box score. Go NU

1-2 final in OT, PC. sounded like a tight gm... came down to ot. Congrats to the Friars. NU got to put this behind them quickly & move forward.

Hopefully some learning as well. Go Huskies

F0ck this. That's a game NU could have won. Many NU players though they scored in OT. Next faceoff leads focus the winning goal, which I guess was taken from Primeau in the crease. This one stings a lot.

that is tough. radio cut out in ot & i just heard the final score. going to be gms like that in a season... gotta shake it off. onward to UNH.

What happened? Was there a review?

No review and I'm not really sure why. Would have loved to see the overhead. Hawkey's helmet very well may have come off before the puck went in but I don't know why you wouldn't at least look at it.

No clue how they would have allowed it though as that is goalie interference. Video of the play is in here

from what i saw fri.. (and heard sat).. pc controlled parts of ot (on both nights). we've just got to get better. this was hard fought, tough wknd & like i said, gms like these... hopefully gets us better, some learning & on to the wildcats.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Taking nothing away from Providence, the "get better and learn" line is wearing thin at this point in the season. There's just way too much raw talent on this team to explain why it finds itself fighting for PWR survival week after week. What's particularly frustrating is that that NU's traditional Achilles heel (goaltending) is anything but a problem but the perceived strength (offense) has been wildly inconsistent.

As matters now stand, winning the Beanpot is looking more and more like a "have to have" rather than a "nice to have." And let's not look past UNH.

Just watched the highlights. The flukey-ness of both PC goals makes it hurt that much more.

It's hard to believe we are a NCAA team when PC is the only team in the top 19 of the PWR that we've even played, and it looks like they were better both nights. Bit of a bummer weekend.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

The first PC goal was fluky...the second one would have been blown dead if the ref was on the other side of the net as it was loose on the ice near his pad. I am pretty sure the refs would have thought it was tied up if he was on the other side.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

You are exactly right. I'd like to believe that "Puck Luck", like you had Saturday night, tends to even out, more or less, over the course of a season. OTOH, I think you are only supposed to get one per game. Perhaps that was compensation for the crummy goal that UML scored against PC to win the Semis at the Garden in 2016:confused:
