Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

yeah... you had an entire third where Lowell couldn't control the puck whatsoever... don't bury yourself too much... you deserved the win... but that's the way it goes sometimes.

.this.

They skated very well after a bad loss last night. Just stick with it Huskies.. let the cards fall where they may. Team attitude from here on out.

Wow. Can't believe the silence on this thread. I thought there would be some kind of reaction to recent events. Anybody?

At this point I would not be surprised if they went winless the rest of the season.

At this point I would not be surprised if they went undefeated the rest of the season.

Talent is there. It needs to start bear down and start getting the job done.

Really.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but the passive PK bothers me more!!:)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

Great to see some offense tonight (and couple powerplay goals). Even though it is against a beleaguered UVM team.. it is on the road which is nice to see. Congrats to Cody on the hat trick.

Should be a closer gm tomorrow..
& win or lose Saturday.. no more giving up shorties NU! We also need to continue work on our penalty kill.
Good hustle tonight :).

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

as expected, a closer gm tonight.. nevertheless, we got the much needed 4 points.
nice job on the road team. let's take it to umass & beyond nxt weekend.
:)

the score made it seem closer then it really was. If NU could score on a goalie that was any decent, this game would have been put away in the first. As it was we were cruising 3-1 when UVM scored a 6 on 4 PP goal late in the third (the kind UML could likes to complain about), but could not get the tying goal. NU forwards were flying all game long, the defense was jumping in, yet they kept UVM to minimal chances the other way and at one point kept the puck in the UML zone for two straight shifts that ended up with the Cornell goal to win it.

A nice weekend, but it becomes meaningless if they blow the game to UMASS on Friday.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

Agree this could have been another blowout. The The UVM goalie played well considering he's only played in about four games this year. The kid stood on his head for a couple of shots and got lucky on a couple of others. Conditioning level seems to be pretty good as UVM seemed gassed toward the end of each period. Encouraging but still a huge hole to climb out of.

Three things I'm still not happy with: 1) The number of major penalties they take; 2) Their knack of taking avoidable minors at the worst possible times, and 3) Cody's childish antics.

Basically I agree with you on all three points. In defense of Pimm, I'm pretty sure it was unintentional. Furthermore the penalty was "sold" to a large degree by MacKenzie's writhing on the ice. His recovery was simply remarkable as he stayed on the ice for the ensuing faceoff with two seconds left in the second period. He must have been giggling all wthe way to the trainer's room. Perhaps next time, Pimm will be smart enough to roll around the ice after a collision.
As for Cody, yes, his staring gesture toward Franzon was immature. It really was nothing in comparion to some of the weirdness that many other players exhibit after they score. Remember Nathan Gerbe's swan dives or attempts to climb the boards? Or some of the peculiar gesticulations that occur when someone scores a touchdown? Cody was targeted througout the game by the UVM players after his hattrick last night and the refs let them get away with it. I thought they were going to stop play after one particular hit during the third period, but he dragged himself to his feet and got back into the play. If Cody scores an empty net goal to seal a win, I don't care if he takes off his jersey and stuffs it in the net along with the puck!

Gotta admit ... it's funny to see you still bothered by Lowell beating the Huskies.

To the rest of the NU fans ... great weekend all around for your team, not just in your results, but the teams around you as well.
