Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog
Merrimack's defense was in playoff form. No challenging that. Some of the best shot blocking I've seen in a while, and NU had very few great scoring chances.
Tonight's game ... I thought they looked great in the first two periods. I don't even want to talk about the 3rd. Great show by Manno getting the first two of his college career. I think it's time to bring back Dongara (or hopefully get Ferriero in there) in favor of another 3rd line forward who, in my opinion, has a long history of being greedy with the puck and is more of a liability in the defensive zone. Not sure what people see in him.
I sat next to a 2013 recruit (Ross Olsson) and his uncle during the game. Really nice family and the kid seems to have a good head on his shoulders. They all seem excited about his commitment to NU. Too bad we couldn't pull off the win while he was there.
1. Yes, the results on the shot chart are "obviously" a result of NU thinking ahead to Saturday night. A fact that you can speak to being an absolute because you personally polled each player re: the shot chart. Riiiight. Couldn't have had anything to do with Merrimack's clogging the lanes? Playing good defense? Nope? Ok, well if you're sure it's obvious....
2. Looks like that extra focus didn't help..
