Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

That was the single worst game I have seen in over a quarter century watching this team.

I believe it.

Sound decision making: non existent.. on or off the ice.
Sincerely hope Cronin's heart is still in this. Until then,

NU Hockey: lost

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Maybe you should go poke your nose on theirs.......they lost again!.....LOL.

Our record in 07-08 after 8 games: 3-1-4
Our record in 09-10 after 8 games: 4-3-1
Our record in 10-11 after 8 games: 5-3-0

Take a cold shower before you blow your load over BC results less than a month into the season.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

This is going to be a long season. I cheer hard for three teams and they are all BAD so far this year.

I saw that the attendance at NU tonight was just over 1200??? Come on!! That's more embarrassing than the result of the game.

Please. The crowds were there early. Lack of results at home = lack of interest. When I was in school (92 - 97) the balcony was often closed. Attendance is the least of their problems.

People keep referencing talent. Are you seeing something I'm not?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Well, we may be in 8th place in Hockey East.... But we're in dead last in Atlantic Hockey.

That's now 3 losses to Atlantic Hockey... in a row... in 8 days. Again, we haven't lost to 1 team from that conference since Army in the late 90s.

Now a question to those that are still saying not to panic and not to give up.

What needs to happen before you guys stop looking through your "Everything is still good, I can never say anything bad about my own team, gigantic elephant in the room" glasses and stop drinking the greatest spiked punch and stop smoking whatever great things you are smoking and admit that this program is in serious trouble right now? Do we have to lose to a girls team? Do we have to lose to the Perkins School for the Blind?

The fact that you are still positive and not upset about this team right now, especially after last night's game is insulting to the program and makes me disgusted that I actually know some of you. The only positive right now is that you people are a dying breed with every disgusting loss.

What's it going to take people? What's your breaking point?

Not making the playoffs this year, or even 8th place. 7th would be an issue but it depends on how packed the middle is.

You know Crowder is not coming back right?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I know this may sound crazy but did you ever think you might have been beaten by better teams?

I know, I know, an impossibility to think that HE, the WHCA or CHCA could possibly out played by a lower rated conference especially when the notion of playing them even, ie, home and home, would never be entertained.

Afraid of a level playing field, eh?

College hockey has grown arithmetically over the years; young men playing hockey has grown exponentially meaning only one outcome: parity. The higher rated conferences, no matter the sport, are kidding themselves and the coaching tactic of not playing teams home and home has nothing to do with sportsmanship or fair play, it is all about individual and a segregated fraternity (conference) designing strategies to perpetuate athletic myths and to protect large, undeserved salaries/longevity not based on sports or sporting acumen but on marketing a false product.

Anyone want to buy a pet rock?

The other NU.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Eagle.. you make a good point on parity, but our NU :)..is seriously in trouble right now. The issues go beyond.. actually regardless, whether we play good teams or not.

I will say this.. your team has usually had a reputation of being disciplined, but what i saw yesterday (the number penalties) was appalling. Not that we could have done anything with the advantage anyway.

Well, enjoy it..

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

No words can really express the catastrophe that happened at Matthews last night. Both teams sucked; ours just sucked more. Niagara is not a good team based on what I saw yesterday. Northeastern just happens to be even worse.

This team is playing like such **** that they should really just consider placing a turd at center ice for the opening face-off and duck out early for some drinks.

I'm glad they heard all the boos and anti-cheers from the crowd, and then looked up to see maybe a couple hundred people left at the end of the game. That wasn't just for the players, either. Hopefully EVERYONE got the message.

Level playing field? Why would anyone want a home and home with Bentley? AHA teams don't even like the fact that they have to play at the JAR. I'd bet that Bentley would rather play on the road anyway, since they are pretty much guaranteed better facilities.

I could maybe see a home and home arrangement with Holy Cross, but it is a very small rink, attendance wise, for what most HE and WCHA type schools would want to play at. Although if NU keeps drawing like they did last night, it wouldn't matter. Bottom line, though, is that it's about revenue.

I cannot comment on Niagara, having never seen a game there. I would suspect you will get some teams who are willing to play home and home before too long, though.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I still don't understand why BC fans have to poke their noses into other school's threads. Typical. It must be like when you talk to someone who is a BC graduate and within ten minutes they let you know they went to BC even though you never asked.

deuce is actually a BU fan; but don't let that get in the way of that BC boogeyman in your closet. whoops, i am sorry i just poked my nose in your thread (i didnt realize you owned the internet). i guess i just proved your point! although, to be fair, i didnt say that i went to BC. (oops; my bad)

in conclusion, i cant say i blame you though. because i'd be having a meltdown too if my team lost to <strike>one</strike> <strike>two</strike> three atlantic hockey teams. i would just be smart enough to avoid embarrassing myself on the internet.

I rather suspect that NU was beaten by better teams, and that, right there, is the problem. When three AHA teams are better than NU, NU is broken.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I just don't know what to say. Im frightened that we may have another 05-06 on our hands. But I don't know why. We have players with individual talent but for some reason none of them can play together in a manner that is remotely cohesive. First period against Niagara I liked the speed and intensity and we look promising, like we might be getting it together and then it was just down hill (down cliff really) from there. I hope to god we can at least be .500 this year by some miracle that involves a HELL of a second half run but I just don't see us figuring it out before mid-late january. All that being said i hope to GOD that Witt starts a game against maine.

Sorry, no meltdown's here. I just don't happen to bother going into other teams threads for a dig. Doesn't do anything for me.

By the way, use of the letter "I" in first person is always capitalized. There is/was a class at Northeastern called Middler Year Writing Requirement. It seems you could use it. I'll write a recommendation for you although some of your use of punctuation or lack of it should have been addressed in grade school.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Come on guys... hockey. Most people aren't bothered by punctuation and capitalization in forums anyway...

After this weekend I'm wondering if I was wrong earlier. No, I'm not going to melt down, or freak out... but there may be no room for optimism.
Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

That said, I will continue to go to all the home games, and I'll continue to cheer for my team. I was just as disappointed with our fans as I was with our team though this saturday. In good times and in bad, we should stay supportive. Booing and yelling obscenities at our players and at Rawlings, (who really was only to be blamed for the third goal anyways) is not going to help their performance or their morale.

So far we've played well against HE teams. Let's see if we can continue that trend, huh? If we continue our level of performance against a strong Maine team next week, we're toast.

unfortunately, going 0-4-2 at home is not going to attract the freshmen class to come to any more games. the fan base is shot until the team strings together a few wins. i honestly wouldn't be surprised to see more BU or BC fans show up for a game if we continue to lose at home.
