Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

...and lost to two others

And go back to what else I wrote when I said that the only bad loss of the year was the PC one, which counts. Losing to BC, not a big deal, many a team is going to lose to them this year.

Losing to BC is a big deal. The top teams in Hockey East right now: BU, Maine, UNH and Providence() have all not lost to BC. I think this tells about the state of NU hockey.

3 out of the 4 teams you list have not played BC yet. So it tells me nothing about the state of NU hockey.

Ok Huskies01, if we lose up in Orono combined scores for both nights approx. 15-3, will you admit that we have a problem? Because if we win at least one of the games up there, I will admit that somehow maybe we aren't as bad as we have looked for the past 3 games. Deal?

15-3, sure.

Hysteria and the Sky is Following is running rampant on St. Boltoph Street right now.

Huskies01, I like the optimism and I'm glad someone is trying to reduce the levels of hysteria in this thread.

I will say that it is not so much the loses themselves but the way the team has looked while doing it. After the loses to Holy Cross and Bentley you would expect to see some improvement, but they looked even worse against Niagara. Right now they look like a team that has tuned their coach out. I really hope that isn't the case

If anyone is going up for the Maine games, the women's team is up there as well with games on Thursday at 7 and then Friday at 2 pm - time to catch their game and then get something to eat before the men's game.

So what. They looked bad, would it have been better if they look good and lost? Or won? They are at Maine for two. As far as I know the games are going to start at 0-0, so I see no reason why NU cannot show up and play two decent games and maybe steal a point or two.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I tell you boys I am not a religious man but tonight I think I will say a prayer for at least a point this weekend. 2 would be terrific! I am glad to see that we have a lot of positive feedback on here. However, so much needs to be fixed, I don't know where coach would start, but I will add that this weekend is a real high water mark but if you come home on Monday morning 1 7-2 you can break out the proverbial fork because they are likely done. Although, who knows, they could surprise the lot of us and get this corrected more quickly then we think. Let’s face it, even though they look absolutely awful they really lost a few one goal games in spite of how terrible they have played. If they can work on 2 primary things they will be ok

1. Staying out of the box, and

2. Our dismal Power Play

However, I am I not saying we are going to win any crowns, and well baring any miracle akin to perhaps turning H20 into wine we most likely won’t but I think we can we should at least be able to compete, I see no reason why we can't. Young teams beat themselves and I think all the freshman who have played coming out of Jr. hockey have to realize that the NCAA is different game especially with regard to what kind of play will draw penalties on the ice. The play in the BCHL is rough and has to please a fan base who pay to come to these games in a for profit league so it takes a while to sink in, looking at some old games on NUTV I am thinking this has been a major part of the problem. Good Luck Huskies. I am not making the trip this year, going to watch my nephew on the Boston Jr. Bruins.

If they looked good in all three games and got beat by better teams, I would be ok. Not happy, but ok. The way they've been playing, they will only get a point if maine hands it to them (they would have to score on themselves, and I don't see that happening).

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I'm not close enough to the team to know if anyone has been sexting with team employees

Judging from past years (when I knew most of the players), that can be anyone. Take your pick. My first guess would be Silva then Quailer.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

See, end of the world, no. Did they lose, yes. Did they get destroyed, no. In fact 2 PP goals tonight! So something good out of the loss. Could they have stayed out of the box more, yes, but it was basically all freshmen taking penalties tonight (12 out of the 14 PIMS tonight were on the freshmen), which is to be expected in their first big conference road game of their careers.

The loss sucks, and they probably wont pick up anything better then a tie tomorrow if they get lucky, but another 4-2 loss with the 4th goal being an empty netter would not be end of the world stuff. Just a typical loss at Maine. Lose on the road to PC again, and i start to get angry.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

A tough and tight game vs. a good #5 Maine team after being in the lead for a good portion of the game... Two PP goals... After the last couple weeks I can't be too disappointed. Still looks like our boys lack discipline and the penalties are killing us. Let's see if we can build on the progress and actually get a win.
