Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

All in all, I expect a couple of tough games this weekend against UMTC Duluth and the Cheerleading Scouts Union of America.

So on a less interesting note...BU is #1 in the country for offense (3.89 goals). Lights out? Maybe, maybe not. Yale is #1 in the country for defense (an incredible 1.59 goals against). So not to be outdone, BU has the #2 powerplay in the country at 26%. But Yale won't let that go...it has the #2 PK at 89.5% and sports the fewest penalties against in the country at 7 minutes.

What's with you Easterners and your skating cheerleader fascination?

We don't, except Q, have them.

Seriously, I never knew they existed until the 2003 FF. Another cool thing about college hockey.

Too funny! It's great because being out west we see them all the time, SCSU, MSU-M, UND, UNO all have them in some capacity. It's odd to hear that most places don't have them! I don't notice when they don't have them as well.

The immovable object and the irresistible force paradox combined with the MN instate rivalry for a fun hockey Friday. I'm thinking BU's speed and aggressiveness will put Yale above 7 minutes on the PK.

Called the best instate rivalry in Minnesota by Sports Illustrated a few years back. Not there's much competition with only one large D1 school, but it's still interesting. Plus how many rivalries feature teams with the same colors? Let alone ones that are in the same university system!

This ****es Mookie off the most. Was originally planned to be 1-1-1 (MSG lynah WWA- repeat). But now we have msg msg msg served up like a lazy chinese cook :(

Argh
Yes, I really would like to see Cornell at Agganis and even make the trip to Ithaca. I haven't been there for many years (when the women played - unable to make the trip this year).

Oh no we don't, and, that's a sore subject with me that we don't. Our cheerleaders have never skated. We have them, but, they stay glued the entire time they are there at one spot over by the Bud Bar, at the end of the arena that occupies.

By the way, yours are the best I have ever seen. I know Euro is going to see this post, probably, but SCSU's are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum. They are god awful. In the stands and on the ice. Me and the Mrs. (who was a cheerleader in high school herself) openly laughed at them when made our first trip to the NHC last month. Watching their cheerleaders reminded me of my sister's dance recitals when she was like 9 years old.

We don't have them here. Instead we have the "mites" come on the ice between periods to play a three minute "game." So ten people all skate to the puck and you have a scrum which moves up and down the ice. I guess it's fun for them...

Many in the BU hockey community including those who run arena were hoping for that instead of trip to MSG
don't know why they can't schedule in years we don't play at MSG

I meant you have cheerleaders at your games, they don't skate and only hang out in that one area of the week. I've always thought ours were pretty good but could see how MN's are better. I haven't paid a ton of attention to them. I'm not a great hockey cheerleader mind. :)

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

And we can all agree that SCSU's cheerleaders are real bad. They definitely bring credence to the term "husky women".

Yours are better looking (and I don't want to get inundated with 'sexist' accusations...)

Cornell has begun to play the game that would otherwise be against BU in those off years in msg against other opponents.
And when it's time for BU again they want it in msg.
