NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Horrible Reffing this weekend. Let them play. If you cant take a hit, dont play hockey.

If a Laker gets injured from turning his back before he gets checked, I honestly wont be upset if he is injured. If thats the type of hockey you are going to play out there in the Soo, Im not going to have any sympathy.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Technically we stand a chance at making it to the Joe, but in reality do we still stand a chance?

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Wildcat fan, but I don't know if we'll rebound after this and last weekend.

Couldn't agree more. The officiating was a terrible mess that basically decided the game.

The only call that was legit was the first boarding on Chernichan that probably should have been a 5 min major/ game DQ.

The rest were closer to embellishment calls on LSSU. Get checked, lay on the ground till the arm goes up, then go to the bench and play the next shift. Dirty, ****ty hockey.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

The refs made it a point to call hits all weekend long which clearly favored the less than physical Lakers.

My problem was Saturday night on the hit from behind to Kosinki with 6 minutes left. Clearly a 5 min call. The Refs were afraid to put their money where their mouths were and refused to call it correctly. They ruled it a 2 min boarding call. If you dont have the balls to call the correct penalty because it may effect the final 6 mins of the game...well I dont know what to tell you. Maybe Wilkins was afraid the Lake State coach might file a Police Report against him too.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Can someone who was @ the series tell me if Northern was straight up struggling on offense or was the LSSU Defense/goalie really good?

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Hello Wildcat fans...I'm doing some research for a formula that I have to rank programs. In order to rank NMU, I need to find their All-time Series Records against their opponents. I looked through the online site and in the Yearbook on there, but wasn't able to find anything. Anyone know where this might be found online? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

It used to be provided in the online media guide, but they've slimmed it down in recent years. A former intern for the department did digitize one years worth and post them online, but it's been since removed. Here are the links to the Archive.org pages:

Those are good through the 2006-2007 season. Just add the newest years to them.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Curiosity question. Does anyone have the following NMU televised games on DVD?
NMU at Minnesota for the Marriucci classic last year?
NMU at the Joe vs Ferris last spring?
NMU at the Joe vs Michigan last spring?
NMU vs Michigan State last weekend?

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Here's an FYI for NMU fans. The Colorado Avalanche has recalled Mark Olver from its Lake Erie minor league team in the AHL. In fifty-two games this season, Olver is 21-15-36 with 75 penalty minutes. The Avs are in the midst of an eight game losing streak and host the Penguins tonight at the Pepsi Center. Because center Matt Duchene suffered a hand injury against Calgary earlier this week and is out indefinitely, Olver may be staying with the Avs until Duchene is cleared to rejoin the lineup.

Hey look! We're top 20 in the nation...
http://board.uscho.com/showthread.p...ll-Time-1-58&p=5037404&viewfull=1#post5037404

... in some poster's "All-Time Ranking" list.

Winning in '91, and being a perennial .500/.600 team has maintained our status. Lot's of "Big Names" are listed behind the 'Cats.

Sometimes I hate being too good to be an underdog, but not good enough to be a "big-time" program. Other times, I love our status as mid-major.

Double Post. Matt Siddall made Yahoo's Puck Daddy today for this fight:

How... gentlemanly of Sid Vicious.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

A bad bad loss. One point against BGSU is unacceptable when you're battling for playoff positioning. Chernie's seemingly 5th or 6th game misconduct this year turned the momentum. With LSSU winning their shootout they move ahead of NMU. If Alaska wins tonite, the Cats are in 8th.

The combination of Western and Ferris losing makes this blown opportunity a bitter pill to swallow.

I listened to the game but unless I missed it I didn't hear Davyd say why Tyler Gron didn't play. Was he injured near the end of last Saturday's game?

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Did everybody give up on Wildcat hockey this year?;)

What's up with our leading scorer? Strange not to hear anything about him last night. The Cats could use a little "umph" in their offense. Tyler would help.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Gron is injured. No word on when he will be back.

The less points NMU takes from BGSU, the more it has to take from Michigan.

Oddly enough, he did travel with the team. That tells me he may dress for at least one of the games and isnt too serious.
