Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Gusy got called up to the Flyers yesterday. He was a scratch last night though.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

While I was in town this past weekend, there was mention of NMU announcing their Non-CCHA games for the next few seasons... Didn't see a press release about it on the athletics page however... Could someone post that info if they are privy to it... All I remember is that we go to Kohl Center and The Ralph over the next few years...

OoooOOOoooh, a trip out to Uncle Ralphie's palace! That would be worth the trip, that's for sure.

Yep, that is the main reason I want to get this info.... It's both cool and sad that a trip to Grand Forks is something that one could look forward to and be excited for... Also, they serve BEER

Don't forget your swastika armbands. ;)
Why would we be rooting for the Sioux when we follow our team out there?

I thought visiting team's fans had to wear some other form of special demarkation.

And do they still offer the special train rides to visiting fans during the weekend?

At last Friday's Blue Line luncheon, Walt said that the Cats will play non-conference games at Wisconsin, home against St. Cloud and the home and home with Tech next year. The following year it will likely be at St Cloud and North Dakota and a home series against Wisconsin in Green Bay.

Bummer, no NMU - UNO game on the horizon. :(

Welcome to the Philadelphia system, overstocked on goaltenders. If one of the Flyers' goalies get injured, they just sign another free agent.

That's pretty much how they do it in pro hockey. When you have hurt players, you have to have replacements.

Sweet... Fall 2012 is gonna be an expensive one, but those sound like some fun road trips... Also looking forward to returning to the Kohl Center next season...

Does this mean no Tech series following next season?

Sorry to get off topic here, but does any one know if Blake pietila is still coming here next year?

We'll have to see how the non-conference schedules are worked out AND how the CCHA schedule works out (remember, we get two extra home games to do whatever with IF we go to Alaska). No word yet if we're in any special holiday tournaments yet either.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

If that doesn't happen, both AD's should be tarred and feathered.

Although in a perfect world, Tech and NMU would meet every year, there are a number of considerations that must be taken into account when scheduling the series. The schools have been fortunate to be able to play every year. It's not as simple as making one change to accommodate the matchup, as any switch has a huge domino effect on both leagues. At this point we just have to wait and see how the schedules work out for 2012-13 and 2013-14. There are so many variables that it is impossible to tell what may happen beyond next season.
