NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

My thoughts and prayers are with Dave's family as well has his NMU family.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Once again NMU can't seel the sweep against a CCHA bottomfeeder. When will all you Walt-sheeple wake up and realize that he is no good at coaching this team. Until he is replaced by a more competant coach, my beloved Wildcats will continue to struggle to maintain their mediocre status. Maybe we should just join the AHA, at least there we could compete.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Ummm...Western was ranked 19th in the country coming into the weekend. NMU is 6-0-1 in its last 7 against Western. And Walt is 16-5-3 in his career against WMU. The Cats are 7-3-2 in their last 12 games, despite losing a half dozen players to injury over that time. NMU also lost two players from their lineup in the game, one who was injured on a ridiculously dirty hit, and a second who was ejected defending his injured teammate. Of course you would likely say its Walt's fault Fernandez got ejected, of course it would also be Walt's fault if no one stepped up to defend their teammate.

Oh, by the way, the Cats currently sit in fourth place in the CCHA, trailing only heavy hitters Michigan, Miami and Notre Dame.

By the way, who is this "more competent coach." How do you draw him to NMU and its budget? How do you pay this individual the salary it would take to come here? You say boot walt, over and over again. How do you get someone you feel will elevate the program? Oh, by the way, there were three new hires in the CCHA this year. Three pretty good individuals got those jobs. They all have more than double the resources to work with. And any of those schools would have jumped trhough hoops to hire Walt Kyle had he made himself available.

Don't forget BWK admitted last season that it's a group of people using the BWK name to get Cat fans riled up. Nothing more.

They pretty much said it was all a joke. They (the BWK group) really don't care one way or the other about NMU hockey.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Dave, obviously he wants Russell from MTU to be the next head coach. Look at what a perennial powerhouse he's made Tech in the last decade!

Oh wait...

I love how BWK is still trying to rile up the masses. The only "sheeple" following what he's preaching are those who don't care about college hockey.

I'd bet a beer at JLA during the CCHA championship that BWK's a bandwagon Blackhawks fan to boot. But that would mean he needs to show up at JLA and prove who he was.

*edit* hey BWK, if Walt is so bad, why is he still being offered NHL jobs everytime a coaching vacancy takes place?

BWK now claims to be an individual. Which would likely indicate that there is even less hockey knowledge than the BWK group.

If any of you would like to keep up to date on Paula's multiple blunders that are never retracted in her blogs and weekly column someone has set up a blog dedicated to tracking these mistakes. I swear I am not the owner of this blog, because it would require far to much time and effort to keep up, must be someone with a state job. ;) So head on over and check out Paula the Pariah

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

Well what do you know, Tom Anastos DOES have the stones to suspend a player after a dirty hit (that isn't named Ray Kaunisto).

http://www.ccha.com/miami_player_suspended_for_one_game.aspx

It's a shame that it takes the coaches tattling on one another and submitting game tape to the league office to get this * done. I knew nothing would have come from the BGSU series.

While Cat Chat's Television show is on hiatus during winter break there will be podcasts on CatChatTV.org. The first one recaps the Western series, discusses Rob Facca's return to NMU, Tyler Gron's break out season, Erik Higby being named the CCHA Rookie of the Week, Reid Ellingson's play this season, a preview of the Notre Dame series and more.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

So, as some posters may know, there have been issues with the internet streaming audio for the games. I've been e-mailing back and forth with someone at the station, and this is the last reply I have received:

Lindsey,
I got the following note from our station manager Evelyn Massaro:

The low volume with our sports streaming is The Point's issue. Apparently
it is especially bad when they are at an away game and they send a signal
reefed from another station. It causes our streaming volume to be very low.
I've talked to them about it but there doesn't seem to be too much they can
do.
I'll mention it again.

Hopefully they will be able to resolve the problem soon.
Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns
Hans

Which is funny, because most of the dates I gave him were actually home games. Either way, the poor audio is, in the end, not WNMU's fault I guess.

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

WNMU processes the feed from the same on air broadcast you get on your radio. There are no signals "reefed" from other stations. The feed goes to WNMU over the air and they pick it up off a digital tuner, just as you might on your home stereo. I received several notes that the stream was weak during the home series against Western Michigan. So much for the theory that road games are different. This is something that seems to have become more prevalent over the past month. We have not changed the way we air the game. If the fans are getting a good signal on their home or car radio, that should be what goes out online as well.

Interesting.
Either way, it's extremely frustrating to not get the feed. Thankfully, I won't need it this weekend :) My last hurrah at the Berry for a while. :(

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

I have used the opposing teams feed for the last few weeks, I must say it is not the same.

I hear that FlowMax works pretty well for "weak streams". Just saying...

Re: NMU Wildcats 2010-2011 Season Thread

I think it is important to note that at the Christmas break, NMU is in fourth. I know the first half schedule has been tougher in past year but with the programs ability in the second half, this should lead to an exciting finish. Go CATS Go
