Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

I've seen similar statistics to these in multiple places. Where are our leaders on this issue? :(

Hello?

This is true. And sad. And points to a certain hypocrisy on the part of certain politicians and "community leaders." Still, the issue of a police killing of a civilian is a different matter and requires our attention. It doesn't, I should add, require rioting, looting, arson and shootings.

Which is why the two need to be considered separately. If 20 guys out of a thousand protesters are rioting, looting, arsoning ("arsoning"?) and shooting, that says something about the 20 guys, not the thousand protesters.

Great, they probably have even less accountability than the FPD.

Well the NY Post is about as credible as your average tabloid and gateway pundit is about as credible as drudge report.

Reports from the time indicated Wilson was suffering some swelling to his face. And his injuries, if any, should be a matter of hospital record and X-rays.

But greatly complicates the job of those whose job it is to bring such behavior under control. Presumably the much ballyhooed "outside agitators" aren't wearing hunter's orange vests to identify themselves.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

That was a theory others proposed as well. ie: Brown paid for the cigarillos but he had an expired license and the store owner tried to get the cigs back and closed the store to keep him there (which isn't exactly legal). Then obviously they didn't report this because they may have sold them to a minor.

In which case it wouldn't have been a "strong armed robbery" and gives further credence to the idea that the cop wouldn't have known about the gas station incident before approaching Brown.

***I fully admit this is all speculation***

More like delusional dead end speculation.

Absolutely agree.

I heard a show called "Make it Plain" with Mark Thompson last night, it seems to be a sort of lefty equivalent to Rush, and he'd just come back from Ferguson. He was not letting the local community off the hook. What he said, basically, was whenever he goes to cover a protest like this the same couple dozen faces keep magically appearing in the crowd, and they are usually the ones who are disrupting the crowd and trying to draw it in other directions than the protest at hand. He called them "anarchists" and mentioned Seattle, but he also seemed to be talking about primarily African American protests and I may be wrong but I don't think there are a lot of black anarchists.

His point was that in a small community like Ferguson it ought to be very clear who is from the area and who is from out of town. They can't know whether those "usual suspects" are genuine advocates of some agenda or agent provocatuers, but they can know they're outsiders. Thompson essentially said local community leaders should question those folks, find out who they are and why they're there, ask them to cool it, and if met with hostility coordinate with whatever law enforcement is there to keep an eye on them. I was very surprised by this, if only because I don't expect partisan shows like that to come up with reasonable solutions.

His opinion was that there will always be a handful of locals who are out of control or looking for attention, but that the lion's share of the serious trouble that happens during these protests comes from the same people who travel from incident to incident and do that thing they do.

The community has a sense of who the outside agitators are. To their credit, I read several articles in which it was reported that members of the community formed a line to keep known outside agitators away from the police.

More fundamentally, the desperation of the community shows just how badly they have been served by so-called social "welfare" programs that only provide material support without also providing a way for people to develop self-respect as well.

That convenience store video is like a Rorschach test. Some see a strong-arm robbery, others see a guy paying for cigars, I see Teddy Roosevelt dressed as a circus clown pooping on a harp seal.

This officer needs to have his service weapon taken away an assigned to desk duty for the rest of his career.

"Officer Fcuk Yourself is going to kill me!"

Lol

On a serious note, I believe that they have Officer Fcuk Yourself on video committing assault.

He should be fired plain and simple. Nobody needs an policeman who cannot keep his cool. Yeah, it's hard to do in that situation but no good will even come from acting like he did.

Of course, if you asked a cable news network (or certain posters here), that would actually depend on whether the person who asked for the officer's name was (a) a perfect little angel with a halo around his head or (b) a "thug" with no respect for authority and pictures of himself on instagram making "gang sings".

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Even if he did sustain the orbital injury, Brown's body was a good 35 feet from the vehicle where the alleged confrontation supposedly occurred. Which would still likely be problematic for Wilson.

Not necessarily. We already know he was shot while facing the officer, and I doubt it was from 35 feet away and was most likely at close range.

Yeah, now that you mention it... to hit him 6 times from 35 feet with a Glock with an eye injury would be some marksmanship.
