Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Here's an idea:

Go home for the night. Protest during the day.

This night time rioting is like carrying a loaded weapon in public. It's completely unnecessary and eventually someone is going to get hurt.

It's gaining nothing and only fueling the problems. Stay out of the streets, don't block traffic, don't cause damage, don't assault the police, and you will have no problems.

They weren't doing any of that. They were standing around. If the police hadn't done anything there wouldn't have been an incident.

dx - agreed... nothing good is gonna happen after dark in this situation.

Both sides appear to be antagonizing.

Um, they were in the street, after dark, with a bullhorn. They were doing exactly that.

Edit: obviously not assaulting the police. But disturbing the peace and impeding traffic? Absolutely.

Neither side is doing the situation a favor.

This.

We've (MN) had shootings and such in the past of years. We haven't done what Ferguson citizens have done. The opposition to the cops escalated the situation. Not the cops. Are the cops over-reacting? Possibly. IMO, probably. BUT the protesting community has been told what was acceptable, INCLUDING protesting. Just do it in during daylight hours.

Where are these tanks the police supposedly have? I know they have armored vehicles, but I have yet to see a tank.

I think that second stream was actually a previous recording, because it just ended.

The video was live, as it coincided with video streams from other sources. The photographer mentioned near the end that he would have to stop streaming soon and might resume as soon as he got to his truck.

Oh ok. It just seemed strange that the bottom bar was actually following a timeline and it ended like it had a set time.

If police want to try to curb night time protesting to limit looting and whatnot, fine, whatever. But giving warnings telling people they must put their cameras away, and either kicking out or not allowing media in, that's messed up. That's happening daytime and nighttime.

Where the heck is Flaggy? Can't believe he's missing this.

I assume his bunker has internet although he may be busy coordinating the resistance.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Yeah, the camera thing bothers me too. They have to know it won't be heeded. So why even say it? Dumb, dumb, dumb. Makes it seem like they are going to march in and start firing live rounds.

Traffic? Did you see any traffic? It's a small town in the middle of the night. If the police had left the crowd would likely have left.

I do find it interesting that the gun nuts and survivalists claim to be all riled up about the government but haven't said a peep about this. Why aren't all the people who went to Cliven Bundy's ranch swooping into Ferguson? Plenty of police they can point their guns at there.

Yup. Hence my over-reaction take on the police side of things.

These last two posts are golden.

I'm sure Flaggy is watching this live and beating off to it. It's like every conspiracy theory come true.

This. They were standing around. Who gives a * if it's dark? People have a right to peacefully protest. Yeah, watch them to make sure no rioting or looting happens, but this is overkill.

Like I said before, the National Guard needs to be the police force for this county for a while.

I agree with "impeding traffic." No base there. Disturbing the peace? Definitely, especially after the curfews/asking to protest during daylight.

On the first point, it's god**** dangerous and creates a hazard. What happens when someone gets scared in their car and hits someone trying to get away?

On the second part, it's because it's a tiny, tiny fraction of ultra right wing extremists who were obviously racists.

The police chief was asked point blank today if there was a curfew and he said no.
