Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

The police chief was asked point blank today if there was a curfew and he said no.

Then many sources are mis-reporting. And I'm not talking the TV channels. Star Trib was one, IIRC, who said curfews were put in place.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Also, no tanks, but they did have a armored trucks with effing mounted guns pointed at the protestors with men in SWAT gear four lines deep.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Yah, I remember hearing this morning on the news that there were no curfews that were going to be out into place.

The police were just begging the public to keep the protests during the day so that the risk of violence was lessened.

Then I am guessing mis-interpretation by the uh, *cough* "journalists."

I'm really torn on the aftermath of his whole situation. Both sides have good points, and both sides have acted so insane it's ridiculous.

If there were curfews they came after the chief spoke at ~445pm (345 central) and he missed a golden opportunity to announce it at the press conference.

Do you have an answer that isn't sarcastic?

Oh go **** yourself. After scooby you're the most sarcastic person on this entire site. So take the nails out of your hands and step down off the cross, mmmkay?

And for the record, it wasn't a sarcastic reply. It was a serious reply to a snarky question.

Edit: looking back at this entire topic, I haven't made a single sarcastic comment.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

The one time I came face to face with a riot cop, I was told to turn around and go the other way even though my destination was past him and I hadn't actually committed any crime (that night ;):p).

It took me half an instant to decide to turn around and go the other way and go around the block to my destination. I didn't try to reason with him. I didn't tell him that "I live here." I didn't tell him that I pay his wages. I didn't tell him that I have rights as an American.

Pretty simple really and yes, I know that I'm not a black male, but the risk to me getting his night stick upside my head was real as he had it ready and they (the cops) were on edge due to events that had played out earlier that night.

Life went on and I still believe that I have my freedoms as an American.

That said, I don't like hearing about the suppression of the media although we are hearing a most likely biased account of what is happening. Anyone who's been around reporters can tell you how annoyingly persistent and obnoxious they can be to get their scoop.

Can you imagine the outrage if a bunch of black people showed up armed to the teeth like in Nevada?

I would have liked to see those clowns in Nevada get vaporized by drones.

Another excellent post. I think we're probably about on the same line of thought on this.

I've never had the misfortune of coming into contact with a riot cop, but I have been told to turn around on a street even though it was public and my house was just down the street. I didn't say a thing I just said, "sounds good. Try to stay cool." (It was during the 3M championship in Blaine :) )

Slowly nods.

They should have all been arrested the second they pointed their weapons at the cops. He'll, that stealing assface bundy should have been locked up and had his cattle confiscated a decade ago.

Yep. Would think that breaks the law... even in Nevada.

I'm sure they were trying to avoid another Waco or Ruby Ridge, but backing down only emboldens the anti-government folks.

It's a tough call. Do you risk a battle with American citizens and all of the ramifications and consequences that would surely follow the victory?

If the scenario that Priceless mentioned happened, I have a feeling that the authorities wouldn't have backed down.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

From what I'm gathering, in many situations, PR is dictating enforcement of law. That's just sad.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Yeah, they had a chance to change things and handcuff all of those wing nuts.
