Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Why is this news? And why the frothing hatred?

Conservatives are poutragey that she puts almost no effort into her work and gets paid that much because she's a Clinton. Which is funny, because it's really no different than W. and Jeb getting rich off of H.W.'s blood, sweat, and tears to build the Bush name.

The whole concept of a 'family dynasty' is a joke. The kids and grandkids inevitably get lazy living off the backs of the ancestors who had to scrimp and pinch to build the family fortune.

Because she's getting six figures for a part time job while thousands of us with more journalistic skills than she'll ever possess are either unemployed or working for meager salaries.

Not that I'm bitter, you understand. ;)

You must be incensed by the hacks Murdoch employs at his various media establishments...

Although it is odd that I don't recall you voicing that before...

Only you (and the other members of the chorale) could justify an entry level job that paid more than the editor of NYT! Only you (and the other members of the chorale) could fail to see what an obscene effort to buy access this hire was. Only you (and the other members of the chorale) would pose your typical moral equivalence argument. Answer me this, Mr. Zenger, any rookies (whose parents are presumptive presidents) working for Murdoch making 600K? Or anything close? One of these days you're going to admit that somebody you favor did something wrong. This isn't it, obviously. But we can all hope.

It's not the same at all. It's a "news" network (the same one that fraudulently edited audio tape to make George Zimmerman sound obsessed with Trayvon Martin's race) paying this talent free young lady a ridiculous salary as an investment toward future presidential access with mommie. Your analogy would be accurate if NBC was the Clinton family business. As far as we know, it isn't. Although each sleazy revelation makes it more difficult to make that case.

You're right about family dynasties. Sometimes things turn out well: Mitt Romney turning down his father's fortune. Sometimes they don't: like the guy who ran away from and lied about a fatal traffic accident for decades, then, memorably, showed up in Palm Beach with his pants around his ankles, asking young women (barely old enough to be his grand daughters) if they wanted to "kiss it."

Meanwhile, it turns out the dog ate Ms. Lerner's e-mails. Obama is the president Nixon was striving to be.

Of course it was an attempt to buy access. Duh. That's so unusual in the world of politics. I don't know how much Murdoch pays his hacks and I don't really care.

Plenty of people I like have done things wrong, but I don't bother to point them out because inevitably a nurse will screw up and leave a laptop with internet access somewhere you can access it and you do a fine job of complaining about it. Then the nurse comes and gets her laptop back and you disappear again until the next time...

Translation: "I'm a libtard phony and proud of it."

Chelsea Clinton isn't the first to cash in and won't be the last. Some of you are embarrassing.

Wait....life isn't fair?!?!?!

Her name commands a higher salary...NBC thought she was worth it, alleged lack of jouranlistic skills or not...I don't see the problem here.

Someone made 600 grand a year starting out? There's a sucker born every minute. Is it a dumb decision? Perhaps. Let the private establishment waste their money if they think it'll mean better ratings.

There's a pretty big difference between the "dynasties" of which you speak. The Bushes, like the Kennedy's, are making money off of the financial investments made by their ancestors. Chelsea is cashing in on the Clinton name, not the Clinton financial fortune. Big difference.
