Not true, unless you mean cracker to be white thug. Then yes, very much so. I think of it more as the hood on the west side of 65. When we were kids, all of my friends who lived over there called it Cloverhood. The east side of 65 is where ALL of the money is. Between Club West, the golf course, The Lakes, North Oaks West. Even older money like what used to be known as Olympic Glen. There are pockets that are pretty cracker though. The mobile home parks for sure. Lots of meth busts there. But for the most part, Blaine has become very rich over the last 20 years. They aren't an Edina, yet, but they are on the rise and have been for a long time.

Coon Rapids and Ham Lake, on the other hand, have more crackers than a saltine factory. Though, as you get further north they become less cracker and more hick. Pretty much 242 is/was the dividing line for me. Though that line has become very blurred since development has exploded. Anything south of say, old 10, is very much crackertown. Until you start getting into the Somali, Hmong, and the other pockets as you get closer to Minneapolis.
The more north you go on 65, the more cracker. Where Northgate Liquor is, seems to be the cutoff for me, as for really noticing things. After Northgate...cue the banjos.

Well I figured that, but no NIMBY "soccer is a commie plot" opposition?

Others can weigh in, but IIRC at that time, no one cared, because it was an outlier of suburbs at the time. Almost the sticks.

Blaine has always been proud of both the NSC and Blaine Soccer Complex. The NSC and BSC make up what is generally known as the NSC. BSC owns the D, E, and F field groups and NSC owns the rest. They've held their 4th of July fireworks there for as long as I can remember. You also have to remember we had the Thunder (and now the United) there for decades. Blaine has been a midwest soccer Mecca at least since I was born.

So I was right. No one cared. ;)

So Blaine will be bending over backwards to build a training facility for the Loons?

Re: Nice Planet X: I knew it, I'm surrounded by a-holes!

Since it was built many years ago, how did a cracker place (judging by the comments it was then) like Blaine build a giant soccer complex?

The facility has more than just soccer and hockey, there are also softball fields, a hippodrome (? - the bicycle racing ovals), and a golf course. In addition to the building that holds its eight hockey rinks, two of which are Olympic, there's a second large building that I have no idea what's inside of it. The place is flat out huge, and would be even without the soccer fields. Aside from the land purchase requirements, the soccer fields used for the big summer jamboree/tournament are probably the cheapest portion of the facility.

Re: Nice Planet X: I knew it, I'm surrounded by a-holes!

I knew hippodrome was wrong, kept thinking of the ice rink up in Eveleth.

Nowhere can be perfect.

I avoid that area because of the soccer crap. Can't go to a restaurant in the summer without having to deal with waits because of **** eating soccer kids.
