Guess you better ask for a birth certificate and legal form of ID the next time you have sex. Because it's your fault if the other person lies.

The judge and senator sound like real tools too. Their BS morality lines sound like a caricature in a movie about the old codger who hates the new fangled things kids are up to.

The judges comments confirm he is using this case to condemn an entire culture he hates...his sentence will be reduced because of it I guarantee.

The sad thing is that I posted the story after I got halfway through and saw the girl and mom had actually testified FOR him, and then sarcastically made the ID joke. Then it turns out the senator actually said that!

I'm ashamed he's from MSU. He's also the same one who called a PR executive a hooker a few years ago so you can tell he obviously knows a lot about having good values.

Yeah...when the mother of the victim says he isnt a sex offender that should be enough. That he spit in her face to prove a point is what will get him in trouble.

Cardinal Law is in the USA (DC for the Cardinal Baum funeral Mass). Wonder if he gets out unscathed?

I love the politician who helped pass the law.

Michigan state Sen. Rick Jones, who helped write the state’s sex offender registry law, says Zach should have been more careful.

“As you grow up, I mean young men are told you know in high school, 15 is jailbait,” Jones said. “Now that’s a slang term, but that’s what young men are told … I would hope that somebody who was 19 years old would say ‘Well do you have a driver's license or something? You don’t appear to be the appropriate age.’”

She told him she was 17.

She and her mother testified on his behalf.

This is just some political grandstanding by some herpa-derps and this kid is going to wind up with our age's scarlet letter. Speaking as the father of a daughter, it's total BS.

I'm pretty sure in MN, the state can pursue statutory rape charges, even if all parties are not interested in doing so.
