Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

There are millions of us, with millions more guns, should it come to the point where the government is using drones on the American people.

The government really can't go start collecting guns, because we won't give them up. Many people will end up dead if that situation comes along.

Not to mention, drones have to be controlled by something, and that pretty much has to be airwaves (whether traditional radio or by satellite). All it takes is a computer, transmitter, and a little know-how, and those drones could very easily turn on the operators.

Ha ha ha ha... You've watched Die Hard 4 a few too many times.

I think it's cute that so many think that their personal armories will protect them from the government should they decide to come calling.

What are you going to do against a drone? Or a squad of soldiers?

You're gonna get dead and while I applaud the sentiment of "At least I'll take a few of the ******** with me!", you probably won't.

Personally, I'm far more worried about the moron with his own armory living down the street (although I'm BARELY concerned about that) than I am about the gubment coming to lock me in a re-education camp.

Some of you paranoids crack me up. Got a few in my own family too.

Which is why Wayne LaPierre and Alex Jones (among others) should be on the permanent "Do Not Resuscitate" list. Those guys give paranoia a bad name.

Yeah, I'm not buying that. I'd hope the US Military is sophisticated enough that you couldn't take over control of a drone with stuff you can buy at Radio Shack. :p

You'd have a hard time convincing troops that firearm owners, standing up for their rights, are the enemy. Especially when I'd expect a large amount of people drawn to the military profession have the same set of beliefs as the firearm owners, and many are firearm owners themselves.

Who is going to give and who is going to carry out the orders to conduct extra-legal raids on private homes?

Extremists on both ends of the spectrum have suggested military coups. "7 Days in May" was a terrific film about a right wing military coup. Many on the left customarily leave the night light on in case "they" try to take over. Similarly, many on the right wing are convinced all of the extraordinarily well trained and motivated men and women who have graduated from our military academies will order the young men and women who have volunteered to serve to "confiscate" weapons, and these folks will carry out those orders, using lethal force if necessary. From where I sit, the evidence of the existence of Santa Claus far exceeds the evidence that the only thing standing between us and a military dictatorship is privately owned guns.

I've mentioned before about the fallout from Watergate. The overwhelmingly re-elected president resigns. And an unelected Vice President takes the oath to become POTUS. He then appoints a new Vice President. Thus, the top two constitutional offiicers were appointed, not elected. And what happened? Nothing.

A few thousand and a family held as collateral would change their minds pretty quick. As for not being able to take it over, how do you expect they control those things? Are the wires hanging from the sky running to a control panel? No. It HAS to be remotely controlled, and anyone can find that signal; all you have to then do is beat the encryption.

Nations and empires fall. I'm not saying that the US is going to fail, but it is always a possibility. If that happens, and we're in a state of civil war, or in a state of anarchy, I would like to think that I am much better off having my firearms than not having them, both for protection and for hunting for food. Its a very remote possiblity, but with as ****ed up as this country has gotten, it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

And I just enjoy target shooting and killing animals.

Yeah, encryption, good luck with that. :p

And giant meteors might strike the planet, too. I'm not much worried about either eventuality. There may be an opening for you on the Boulder PD. :)

When I was growing up in Leave it to Beaverville, a well to do doctor on our block made essentially the same argument about a Soviet nuclear attack. Actually, there was probably a much greater liklihood of nuclear war than there is of right wing/left wing (people need to make up their minds) colonels "taking over." And even less liklihood that the only thing stopping home grown Kaddafis is privately owned weapons. Anyway, this guy didn't build a fallout shelter. He built a bomb shelter. And placed a new greenhouse on top of it. The doctor has been gone for many years now. I'd be curious to know how the real estate agent positioned the bomb shelter for prospective buyers.

Also, no link on this one, but my taxes went up! That must mean that I make more that about $250k a year now! Funny, my boss didn't tell me I got a raise...

I can't believe that ****ing pathetic, lying, piece of **** is still leading this country.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

I don't feel bad at all for the supporters, that actually voted for this bafoon. They're getting whats coming to them for being stupid enough to not see this coming.

Neither do I. Of course one of them was all, "I don't care so long as they stay away from my *insert female area here*". Sometimes I wish that person's mother aborted her in order to give her what she truly wanted, but there is another part that can't wait to see the left issue that control on women.
