While there's no reason at all to spare the woman, I'm kinda thinking that some child welfare people should have stepped in before the children lost their lives. And lost them in as horrific as way as I can imagine. I would hope those child welfare people are at least feeling some guilt over this.

Agreed. She was cited repeatedly and they still did not take her kids. They just told her to stop doing it. How many times were they going to tell her? Did they think she was going to listen the second or third time? Or were their hands tied because of some bureaucratic thing? Just nice planet all around.

You'll recall the Willie (Kennedy) Smith rape trial, which was televised in Florida. The victim's face and identity were hidden. But, when the National Enquirer outed her, the "paper of record" outed her too, in reporting what the Enquirer had done.

If I was water-boarded until I made up my mind, I'd cop to being more pro-choice than anything else. But this Gosnell matter is far more complicated and raises far more troubling questions than merely access to abortion services. Dr. Mengele apparently had a pretty extensive collection of fetal feet! In little jars! He reportedly had an examining room that met minimal sterile standards--for white women only! He had unlicensed, untrained people performing medical procedures on patients! And much more. And he grossed about a million five annually, too.

I should think all but the most extreme pro-choice types would want to ensure that women, especially poor women, were receiving care that met minimal professional standards. I guess not. All they can see is a "war on abortion," and that absolutely colors their judgment. I wonder what their attitude would be if Dr. Mengele was white.

In my Houston days we had several instances where Child Protective Services had removed kids from their homes and then returned them. And the kids were subsequently killed (intentionally). Common sense would seem to suggest that if you've gone to DefCon5 and taken kids away from their parents, then the highest possible standards should obtain in giving them back to those same parents. "Guilty 'till proven innocent."

Not surprised to see she had 4 children by the age of 24 and my guess with no father(s) in sight. She apparently knew there were electrical problems in the home and didn't know where the key was for the deadbolt? I can't even type what I hope happens to her.

Of all the movies to get it right, would you believe Beavis and Butthead Do America is one of them?

Beavis (in Cornholio mode) ends up on a tour of the White House, wanders into the Oval Office, picks up the red phone and starts babbling nonsense into it, and they show DEFCON moving from 5 to 4 and everyone freaks out.

I love the scene in "War Games" where Broderick confers with his favorite computer geeks about bypassing "Protovision's" security. And the one obnoxious nerd (Eddie Deezen) starts mouthing off about "giving away all our secrets." The other guy (Maury Chaykin) asks: "Remember when you asked me to tell you you were being rude and obnoxious? Well, you're doing it now."

The other (unintentionally) funny scene in "War Games" comes at the beginning, where replacement missile launch officers (the late John Spencer and Michael Madsen) approach what appears to be an ordinary house but turns out to be a disguised launch complex. Yeah, like the neighbors wouldn't notice the construction of a series of 100 foot deep holes and related construction. And wouldn't also notice when ICBMs are trucked in and slipped into those holes. With 50 ton slabs of concrete to plug them. And that from time to time guys in uniform show up in Air Force vehicles, go inside, and stay there for days at a time. And nobody would notice that there aren't any neighbors. Just AF vehicles coming and going at all hours dropping people off, picking them up and making deliveries.

And when Spencer refuses to turn his launch key, Madsen appears to be ready to shoot him, which would mean the missiles couldn't be launched anyway, since it takes two to tango.

Wife of former Texas Justice of the Peace held on $10 million bail for her role in the murders of a DA and his wife and an assistant prosecutor. Although they may cut her a deal to avoid the needle, both she and her husband will face capital murder charges for two reasons: multiple murders and killing of law enforcement officials. For sure, her husband is heading for a gurney. Texas law enforcement people get downright cranky when you start murdering DAs.
