Wells Fargo fires worker convicted of using a fake dime at a laundromat in 1963.

Big banks have been firing low-level employees like Eggers since new federal banking employment guidelines were enacted in May 2011 and new mortgage employment guidelines took hold in February, the newspaper said. The tougher standards are meant to clear out executives and mid-level bank employees guilty of transactional crimes — such as identity theft and money laundering — but are being applied across the board because of possible fines for noncompliance.

When I posted this earlier I thought this incident sounds like The Law of Unintended Consequences. Since it's a mega-bank, which means there could be lots of money and publicity in it, maybe Gloria Allred could be the guy's lawyer. He's 68 for Chr*st's sake. And not involved with mortgages.

Like the Beadle says in Oliver Twist: ". . .the law is a a*s--a idiot."

So does 12/7 get it every 20? What a bunch of maroons.

The first 7/4 was over two hundred years ago. And I'm pretty sure some people in Amherst would take offense at observing it annualy (at least one who posts here evidently does too).

Officials in Quebec cover up the theft of millions in maple syrup!

Quebec police are on the hunt for a sticky-fingered thief after millions of dollars of maple syrup vanished from a Quebec warehouse.

The theft was discovered during a routine inventory check last week at the St-Louis-de-Blandford warehouse, where the syrup is being held temporarily. The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, which is responsible for the global strategic maple syrup reserve, initially kept the news quiet, hoping it would help police solve the crime quickly.

It's that time of year again. And here are some numbers that indicate MDA took a horrible beating last year in it's "telethon" (without Jerry) than it did the year before (with Jerry). These figures refer to the actual amounts received as opposed to amounts pledged. I'm sure I'm not the only one also suspicious of the nuimbers they touted at the end of last year's 6 hour broadcast. Wondering, how did they manage to collect pledges in six hours what used to take them two or three times that long. IMO, there was a definite aroma to the whole business.

Godwin's Law hits politics.
To be fair, Obama is *headdesking* right now:

http://news.yahoo.com/calif-dem-says-ryan-lies-nazis-goebbels-231816741--abc-news-politics.html

Hank Williams calls the president a Muslim and its front page news (Top headline on Yahoo right now, actually). This guy compares Ryan to a Nazi, and you have to search to find it, or hear about it on here.
But the media certainly isn't biased. Nope, not in the least little bit.

What do you think that the majority of people want to read more about: 1.) a celebrity calling the president a muslim or 2.) someone none of them have ever heard of comparing Ryan's actions to the actions of someone else that most of them have no recall of?

I suspect that if some idiot celebrity were to say that Romney and Ryan were acting just like Hitler and Himmler it would also be top news. I bet that 90+% of Americans can recognize Hitler as a German dictator and leader of the Nazi, but less than 10% have any idea who Joesph Goebbels was.
