Life in America: if you're unhappy, if you're PO'ed, if you want a little publicity, get a lawyer and sue. While I come down on the side of the students in the T-shirt embroglio, this lawsuit is unnecessary and likely a publicity stunt by the lawyer.
The idea that a school district, any school district, would allow/encourage students (many of whom are illegal) to celebrate an important date in the history of a foreign nation while at the same time punishing native born students who wish to show some American patriotism is just wrong and wrong headed. Like the doctor said at the end of "Bridge on the River Kwai," "madness. . .madness."
Even so, the kids got a lot of positive press over the incident and it's simply not necessary to take this to court--unless they're getting hooked on the publicity or the lawyer has ambitions.
