http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/06/23/students-sue-removal-american-flag-t-shirts/

Life in America: if you're unhappy, if you're PO'ed, if you want a little publicity, get a lawyer and sue. While I come down on the side of the students in the T-shirt embroglio, this lawsuit is unnecessary and likely a publicity stunt by the lawyer.

The idea that a school district, any school district, would allow/encourage students (many of whom are illegal) to celebrate an important date in the history of a foreign nation while at the same time punishing native born students who wish to show some American patriotism is just wrong and wrong headed. Like the doctor said at the end of "Bridge on the River Kwai," "madness. . .madness."

Even so, the kids got a lot of positive press over the incident and it's simply not necessary to take this to court--unless they're getting hooked on the publicity or the lawyer has ambitions.

So you're upset that he's upset about ballpark officials pandering to her nonsense of demanding to be moved, and they put her in his PRIVATE BOX WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION? I'm not sure why you think he shouldn't have a problem with that.

Sounds like a classic case of, "I don't like they guy therefore everything he says/does is wrong."

You're better than that, hoven.

No he isn't. :p

And you are right on this one.

Re: Nice Planet 2010

I just think he handled it extremely poorly. I woulda been all for kicking her sorry arse out of the stadium, but all of us know that's not gonna happen.

Just talk to the people you need to talk to, in private, let them know that something like this should never happen again, and leave it at that.

And I would be saying the same thing if it was about a person I was a fan of. This whole "I'm outraged!" at something as minor as this has become way too common, and it disgusts me.

Everything is definitely not ok in Oklahoma. Ten, count 'em, ten officers in the old lady's apartment and all these geniuses can figure out to do is to taze her. At 86, bedridden, on oxygen, you gotta know she's got the reflexes of a cat. She's lucky they didn't shoot her. What the bleep is wrong with these people?

Re: Nice Planet 2010

For some reason I immediately thought of this:

Homer: So I said to him, "Look, buddy, your car was upside down when we got here. And as for your Grandma, she shouldn't have mouthed off like that!"
Lisa: Dad, don't you see you're abusing your power like all vigilantes? I mean, if you're the police, who will police the police?
Homer: I dunno. Coast Guard?

They ought to sue the nipples right off of the officers' tits for this one.

The St. Paul Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal Division on Friday replicated an accidental fireworks explosion inside a typical family car, showing the potential danger of personal fireworks. They ignited two to three bags of mostly legal fireworks, along with some illegal ones, including a few firecrackers and a roman candle. The fireworks were set off by an electrical spark, intended to mimic a cigarette being tossed in the back seat. Within seconds the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

(bolding mine) Yeah, that's close to the same.

Re: Nice Planet 2010

Actually, I think it's quite reasonable for them to toss in some illegal ones. I can recall that my grandparents used to buy the "real" ;) fireworks in Tennessee on their way to Michigan every summer. Several years ago, Ohio had a policy that you could buy fireworks in their state that were technically illegal, provided you signed a form agreeing that you would not shoot them off within Ohio's boundaries . Not sure if that's still the case, but I remember that lots of people from Michigan would drive down to Toledo to get their fix.

Long story short, it's really quite easy to get illegal fireworks and many people do.

It was the point in the article that insinuated that a roman candle in the back seat was similar to a lit cig in the back seat.

Are. You. Kidding. Me.

Yes, I know what they really intended with that article, but it's not well written.

I think it was poorly read. It clearly stated that the electrical spark was intended to mimic a tossed cigarette.

Re: Nice Planet 2010

Uh, either way, a roman candle is not even CLOSE to a lit cigarette. That's my point.

Whoosh.

It's not supposed to be close to a lit cigarette. It's supposed to be close to a roman candle. And the cigarette is supposed to be close to a cigarette, accidentally igniting the roman candle et al.

I need to make sure I'm fully awake when I find this stuff.

Oh, and then there's this:

There could be two other alleged victims dating back to 2002, Scarpelli told HLN's "Prime News."
Something you want to tell us, Twitch?
