NHL 2021: I Pledge Allegiance to Gritty

To the people who actually follow the Red Wings (I watch and root, but barely follow)....

What's going on??? Is this current form going to hold for the season, or at least long enough to return to the playoffs? Pretty darned nice to see them do so well- and they are still the 6th youngest team in the NHL. Not only there was a big hole in talent that Yzerman has been forced to fill.

Given the last few seasons, this early success is pretty encouraging.

They are pretty injured, but doing okay. The schedule coming up is exceptionally easy so they need to run off 6 wins in the next 8. If they do that then there is a chance they're going to be a playoff team, but I don't think they will end up in the playoffs this season. They have had a few concerning losses, but they can score and Husso is a pretty good goalie.

So they are injured but in 2nd place? Kind of surprising.

I seem to remember seeing something about them near draft time, and it was mentioned that they are probably not making the playoffs. This start is pretty encouraging.

They were above .500 at Thanksgiving last year and then the nosedive began, so I'm holding off on getting too excited just yet. They are definitely trending in the right direction, but are most likely another season away from returning to the playoffs.

They haven't faced any of the likely good Atlantic teams yet (TB, FLA, TOR), and the one they did (BOS) they were pretty dominated. They also lost to BUF 8-3.

They are going to have a rough second half of the season simply because it is a very back loaded schedule. Maybe they can take advantage off the start and hold on to the last playoff spot, but I don't know. The East is so good.

Pretty scary injury to Evander Kane- he got cut badly in his wrist. Lots of blood. Should be ok- he left the ice on his own, and hopefully he can be quickly stitched up.

Maroon grazed his wrist when Maroon tried to skate around Kane. Pretty sizeable puddle of blood when Kane got up.

TNT reports that Kane is alert and stable after having an artery nicked and is at a local hospital and will undergo surgery in a couple hours.

Everyone of over average IQ was bullied by everyone of under average IQ.

And then we all grow up and do it again in adulthood, with the Left and the Right. In school, the orcs use slurs and fists; in adulthood they use laws and prisons. But it's all the same.

There is a portion of the population who are wild animals, afraid of everything of superior intelligence, angry at everything of superior ethics, attacking everything of superior quality. They are the trash that has to smear itself on things too fine for them to appreciate. They are the barbarians picking their noses in the library before burning it, or wiping their feces in the well of the Senate. Weak-minded, pathetic, and miserable.

And because their children are just like them, they grow up beating and abusing their own, who then pay that hate and violence forward on everyone they meet, usque ad finem temporis.

Someday there may be a cure. Or a way to leave them behind. Until then, we isolate, contain, and monitor.

Seattle fans do not seem to understand hockey real well yet. From in arena experience

They should, they'd had teams longer than almost every NHL city.

The funny thing about NHL fans thinking of Seattle as "expansion" is Seattle hockey dates continuously over 120 years, same as Portland. That's longer than all but 3 or 4 other American cities. Longer than New York. Or Minnesota. Or Boston.

Y'all are late comers from our perspective.
