I lose more and more respect for Kesler everyday.

Used to love him....but after his antics in the playoffs the last two seasons I could care less for him.

How can NHL refs be so bad? And they've ALWAYS been bad - since the early 80s when I first started watching.

These CBC announcers should just STFU. That was a textbook check by Brown, it wasn't late, high or dirty. It's not Brown's fault Thelma had her head down or that she hit her head on the ice.

It was the same way in the Sens-Rangers series.

At the start of the season, Shanahan and the new focus on discipline was well received with the thought that it might really cut down on bad hits.

It seems as though it's had the opposite effect. I honestly can't remember recent playoffs that have been so caustic. The number of flat out cheap shots in each series is unprecedented.

He dished out major suspensions for the first month, then poof, no more. Guys now know they'll get next to nothing for the worst plays, so it isn't as detrimental to their teams.

True, but that doesn't explain why this year seems so much more universally vicious than any recent year. There was no specific disciplinary system in years past and you didn't see this.

I mean, when's the last time you've even seen so many playoff fights? Usually all of this disappears once the playoffs start.
