Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Based on Bradley-Terry rankings (i.e., KRACH) found here, the updated (after 5/9) most likely outcomes are:

West: LAK in 4 (100%), PHX in 5 (100%)
East: NYR in 7 (59.4%), NJD in 5 (100%)

Overall winning probabilities:
West
STL 0.00% - LAK 100.0%
PHX 100.0% - NSH 0.00%

East
NYR 59.4% - WAS 40.6%
PHI 0.00% - NJD 100.0%

As always, KRACH is not a perfect predictive system. In fact, it's not predictive at all; it's retrodictive. Home-ice advantage, momentum, and the like can not be accounted for reliably, so they are ignored.

Next Round possibilities:
Code:
West
PHX - LAK

-------------------
|EAST | HOME |
|CONF.|-----------|
|FINAL| NYR | NJD |
|-----------------|
| |NJD|59.4%|XXXXX|
|A|---|-----------|
| |WAS|XXXXX|40.6%|
-------------------

If the Rangers win, I'm cutting someone.

If they sign Stephane Matteau for the ensuing series, the Mayans will have nothing on me.

What, it's not enough that your team has already had a joke of a path to the conference finals with the way the Flyers rolled over for you?

Wait...what? A joke of a path? Are you implying that the Rangers have a more difficult path? They had the #1 seed. Their path should be a cake walk.

The Devils finished fourth in the division and got the #6 seed and got to play a team that had 8 fewer points than them in the regular season in the first round, while the Flyers and the Pens finished higher and got a battle with each other as a "reward". The Rangers should have an easy path but they're playing like crap.

Fourth in the division doesn't matter given they made the playoffs based on the total number of points. I think it says more about the strength of that division that they finished fourth and still made the playoffs. Because they had enough points to do so. One or two extra wins by any of the eight teams in the playoffs could have meant totally different seedings. You're making it seem like the Rangers have a much more difficult path when in reality, if the Rangers played the way they have all regular season allowing them to get the #1 seed, it should not matter who they are playing. In fact, the Caps were a #7 seed who knocked of a #2 seed. Talk about a joke of a path. Who would the Rangers have played had the Bruins won that series?

No, no, no. Don't you see? The Rangers are getting screwed by the seeding. It's all part of the master conspiracy by the NHL.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

I've had to take a step back from the thread so I don't get flamed for being Rangers fan (there are plenty of other reason to flame me.) Game 6 was a missed opportunity for the Rangers. Plain and simple. Caps beat us. Move on. Leaves it to a Game 7 where I just have a bad feeling about tomorrow.

And BTW about Kazakhstan... we should've blasted Borat back into the Stone Age. No way they should be hanging with us. That missed point is going to hurt as we battle for 3rd and 4th in the group.

NBC Sports' 72 Summit Series documentary makes up well for the lack of hockey tonight.

You've had a bad feeling since Game 6 of the Sens series and you gave up on the team after Game 5 of that series.

MSG won't be rocking at all tonight, nope. Might as well put cardboard cutouts in all the seats.

Who am I kidding? Game 7, because it's the cup. Even though I'm not a Blueskirts, I mean Blueshirts fan, I'd kill to be there for it.
