NFL '24-25- lots of potential, any reality?

For all the sh*t that Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez took, the fact of the matter is the last time the Jets made the playoffs, all the way to the AFC championship game -- TWICE! -- was back during that era. Just saying... Now, they are just flat out sh*t.

Saw this today. Last year with Zach Wilson, the Jets were 4-3. This year under Rogers, they're 2-5.

Even I didn't know that. If they lose to the Patriots this Sunday, I give up. At least I'll have the Mexican Grand Prix pre-race show to switch to at halftime...

(And the thing is, the AFC East sucks this year. It was there for the taking by anyone with just a halfway decent team.)

They fired the wrong coach. The D was never the problem- it was actually a genuine feature for the team. Now that Sala is gone, even that part has really declined and the offense is still pretty offensive.

As a Lions fan, many hope that Stafford can play his way into the HOF with the trade, especially considering that he was the one throwing the ball to HOFer Megatron. But Rogers…. He peaked a long time ago, had stayed high-ish for a long time, but now his bad play is more common than the good.

Brady at one point marveled at Mahomes’ ability to see in three dimensions. Probably my favorite moment of this game.

This is what non GOATed QB's see

I'm thinking the Patriots will make the Jets look like playoff contenders.

The awesome Vikings defense is anything but once again.

Yep. All I've heard the last few days is how horrific the Rams offensive line was, and how Minnesota was going to put all sorts of pressure on Stafford. They touched him maybe once this game.

Oh well. I had no expectations coming into this season. Helps take the sting out of things when the Vikings finish the season 8-9.

Before the season I thought the Vikings would be good for 6 wins (didn't love their running game, didn't love the defense, lack of depth, don't trust the QB) and despite the record I think that is starting to show a bit more.

They touched him on one of the TDs. He looked like the Stafford of the Lions when we had no line.

So that missed call at the game. It was really bad, and how in the world could they have missed that an all.

But was it *really* game changing? It would have given the ball to the Vikings on the 20 with less than 2 min left- and they had not moved the ball much in the 2nd half. Let alone they had to score a TD AND get a 2 point just to tie without a time out. I get them having a chance, and that's a real chance, but historically, the odds of being able to do that is small enough that it can't really be called game or season changing. If it was on an actual TD play, or one that would have led to a really easy TD, that would be game or season changing.

Again, it was a terrible missed call, and the Vikings should have had the ball at the 20. It was just not really that game or season changing given the odds of them scoring to just tie the game.

I don’t think they score to tie it, either. But crazier stuff has happened, and to make a call that moves it from having any chance to having no chance is pretty terrible, in my opinion.

So to answer your question, we have no clue if that call was game changing because the call was made.

It's not a missed PI on a throw to the end zone, it just changed the no odds to really small odds to score.

And we've all been sports fans long enough to know that one blown call almost never is THE reason a game is lost- the Vikings let Darnold get pressured a lot in the 2nd half, and his effectiveness dropped quite a bit. And even then, they were moving the ball pretty well. But the penalties started getting on them- procedure, holding, etc. Let alone the number of times penalties gave the Rams first downs during the game.

I just get bothered by the talking heads that imply that a missed call like that is so very monumental just because it was missed when the actual impact doesn't mean that they would have scored- it just changed the odds from zero to really bad.

Huh? It was a safety, which made it a two possession game and the Vikings had to kick it to them. It changed the odds of the Vikings tying the game from really small to nonexistent.

Yeah it's not an 8-point game if they correctly make the call.

And it doesn't matter if that's the reason why the lost (it's not) but get the call right and let the players decide the rest so we don't have to again talk about this s**t.

it wasn't THE play. It was A play that changed the game. The talking heads are suggesting that it was THE play. Minnesota had multiple chances to end a scoring drive by the Rams by not committing a penalty- those had more influence on the game than that one did.

And I did point out that it changed from a small chance to a zero chance.

You mean it's not a 10 point game if they make the correct call. It would still be an 8 point game if they got it right.
