Re: NFL 2019-20: The Patriots Are A Terrible 11-3 Team!

I quote Star Trek episodes I saw (in syndication) in the 70s. I'm right there with you.

I just realized that a person who had watched baseball for as long as I have now (49 years) watching the first game I ever saw (1971) would have watched Ty Cobb, Grover Cleveland Alexander, and Tris Speaker play. And Johnny Evers, as in the poem.

Vin Scully's first day on air was Connie Mack's last day as a manager.

Connie Mack's first day as a player takes you to 1885 in two people.

That is great! It's like Galileo dying the day Newton was born, which gets you from 1564 to 1726 in 2 genuises.

If you go from my Mom's birthday back as many years as she is now old, the guy who wrote the Constitution (James Madison) is still alive.

John Tyler has living grandchildren.

A more relevant thing is the people who saw Bobby Lane and Jim Brown play were my parents, one just turning 30, the other just turning 40 when I was a kid and I can remember NFL games. And it was less than 20 years since the Browns or Lions were champs. In not too many more years, the time since the last championship will be longer than the average lifespan of an American.

It's worse when you think about music. As you hear 80's music in adult contemp. channels- which would be the equivalent of playing Deep Purple and Glenn Miller on the same channel.

Heck, I was born the year of the first, and very anticlimactic NFL-AFL championship. Before it was the Super Bowl.

My grandfather died in 2001. His sister died in 1894.

Has any person ever watched the Pro Bowl all the way through?

I don't give a sh-t about the Super Bowl, and neither do any of you since this thread was down on page 2, but this is good.
