Fans that never had much reason to hope wouldn't understand.

I was at prime fan age in the 70s, and let me tell you it hurt to have such high hopes for the Vikes so many years only to lose the big one.

Like so many Minnesotans, it turned me into a life-long loser. :D

That's a good point. I mean, see: Cubs fans. ;)

That's why that WS win was so huge. And the Bartmann loss was so depressing.

And that hope means that you tears of pain are all to yourself. That's my point. Cry all you want, feel sorry for yourself all you want. You do it by yourself- nobody else feels bad for you or your team. Especially those of us fans who haven't come close to having hope.

Always loved both Cubs and Twins. Remember, before interleague play, it was ok to have your AL team and NL team. Yes, I will root for the Twins over the Cubs every time.
Never was a huge Vikings fan. Didn't really have a "team" until Jim Kelly came along.
North Stars moved and ceased to be, in case you missed it. According to the sports rules, I was free to choose another team.

He was stuck with a team with 5 national titles including two since 2000. Boo hoo.
