NFL 2018-19: Let's Be Honest, Jerrah is the Real Commissioner.

It was when they won in 2004, when they tried to frame themselves as some suffering team, even though they have had WS opportunities in the time they had not won. Whereas the Cubs had not. The HBO special on that made me not like fans in NE. Lets not pretend that you are the most suffering fans in pro sports, when Cub fans are having a party in their outfield, and will not sniff a WS for another decade.

I know Bill Simmons is not the emperor of Boston sports, but he still acts like this. He was pulling the “woe is me as a Sox fan” bit this October about something, and just about everyone in the comments, both nicely and not so nicely, reminded him that the Sox have one a bazillion titles since 2000, as has Boston as a whole. The Downtrodden Sox Fan is dead.

Leafs, Indians, Lions, Browns, and like half the NBA get to carry that torch now.

Don't forget the football Cardinals(last championship 1947).

Part of Rogers issue is that he's out there getting elite QB money, while Brady took a contract that was big, but not so big as to hinder the team's ability to bring in other talent. There's a lot about Brady that annoys me, but he's willing to do both on the field and off the field to make his team into the league champion.

His elite money hasn’t kicked in on the cap — his cap hit is 20.9 million this year, and next year jumps to 26.5 million for 2019. Rodgers had the 13th highest cap hit among QBs in 2018, behind Tom Brady at 10. (22 million)

Green Bay totally screwed themselves for years by being complacent and letting Rodgers mask weakness, rather than take advantage of Aaron’s “cheap” contract.

I agree Brady has done a great job keeping his cap hit low, and it helps when your wife is a super model making double what you are on the football field as the GOAT.

That's an awful long grudge to hold over something so irrelevant. But regardless, I think everyone fluffs up their own struggle, we're no different than anyone else in that regard. How many 13-3 teams are there that prattle on about "overcoming adversity"?

Bill Simmons is about 10 years beyond any hint of relevancy and hasn't lived in Boston for like 20. I'm not sure I'd use him as any kind of bellwether for "average boston dude". He's completely stuck in 2002.

It's not a grudge. I just don't like NE fans- it's not as if they've stopped this "woe is us" bs.

So can we get back to football?? LOL

Football has essentially been about how much Boston people suck for the last 20 years.

It will be regarded as a Dark Age with an asterisk. They'll probably just vacate the two decades' records out of respect. The Denver Broncos have been reigning NFL champions for 19 years and counting. The ensuing interval was just a long work stoppage.

I argue the football Cardinals are actually the worst franchise in history. Oldest football team. Two titles in 120 years of existence, and the first one shouldn’t count. Originally awarded because Pottsville played an exhibition that violated the territorial rights of another team, the NFL suspended them and awarded the title to the Cardinals, who were also in trouble for hiring high schoolers to play for another team to get a win. Originally the Cardinals wouldn’t even accept the title, but when the Bidwells bought the team they began recognizing it.

So in actuality, 1 title in 120 years and just 2 title game appearances.

Can anybody beat the Expos-Nats (0 title appearances / 50 seasons)? Maybe the Clippers? They never even made it to conference finals.

Your salty tears taste delicious.

I only wish I was an actual fan of the sport so I could enjoy them more.

No team has crushed souls like that of the Vikings. There have been plenty of wins but does any franchise in any professional sport have as many gut-wrenching big game losses as the Vikings?

4 lost SB. Granted some would argue the only upset was to KC but ******* Hank Stram, PIT, OAK and MIA.

On top of that:

1975 Div Playoff - Drew effing Pearson pushing off to beat arguably the best Vikings team of all time
1987 NFCCG - Darrin effing Nelson dropping a pass to go ahead at the goal line and a game that might have been played at home had the scrubs not gone 0-3 during the strike
1998 NFCCG - Gary effing Anderson and Denny effing Takeaknee
2000 NFCCG - 41 effing donut loss by a team that was 100% unprepared and cocky
2009 NFCCG - Hurricane effing Katrina, Garey effing Peyton, NFL effing refs and Bounty effing Gate
2014 WCG - Blair effing Walsh
2018 NFCCG - Just eff me

Vikings are the soul crushingest sports team that's ever existed. And, it's why Minnesota Sports fans are the way they are. They are the straw that stirs in the drink in this town and no season has ever ending in elation.
