Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

It's not that he is winning games. It's the morons who think he's a good QB. He's not. He's a decent RB in the QB position.

I think everyone knows he's not a great passer right now. So what? He's finally getting a chance and he's not exactly surrounded by great talent. I just want to see him be given a legitimate chance.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Actually, the Luck Knob joke is an online poker joke. ;)

And JD, this "offense" will be figured out and will be destroyed unless Tebow somehow becomes a legit passer, a la Vick.

They went into the season with no plans of Tebow playing. It's hard developing a full offense on the fly. My hope is they actually give him this chance and go into next year with him as the starter. Wouldn't hurt to try and build around him. That's all I'm saying. He's 4-1 as a starter this year...give it a legitimate chance.

Somebody will eventually figure this out. The Jets defense loves to over-pursue and it played into the option's hands. Stay in your lane and make the pitchman make the mistake. If high schools can get it right, why couldn't the Jets?

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

how many times does he have to win before it isn't luck anymore?

this guy is soooo hot!! who cares if he can't throw. {Tebows}

What Mountie said. You're an NFL QB. How do you go 2-8 and 9-20? It's not all on playcalling. That's ability right there. I'm not saying Tebow can't grow into a passer, but from what I've seen, he will not.

All I'm saying is give him a chance as the starter going into next year. Give him all the first team reps and try to develop a moderate passing game. Keep some elements of what they're doing now as well. I fully understand this all hinges on whether or not Tebow can improve his passing.

How many NFL games has he started? Half a season total? With two head coaches? I have no problem with people saying they don't think he'll develop into a decent passer. I just want to see Denver try to make it work.

We're pretty much on the same page, I think. Trouble is, all of Denver thinks he's the next Elway (believe me, they do; firsthand experience).

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

I was reading the Tebow reactions in this thread from yesterday. I'm not sure what to think.

I do not think Tebow would be as good of a runner being a full time HB simply because at that position teams defend the run. When you are the QB, teams generally do not commit a defender to you. That's why he is such a threat running. No one is assigned to watch him most of the time.

I think Tebow, like any young player, can learn to be a better passer. I'm not saying they will fix all the issues with his arm slot and motion. I'm just saying with enough time and a full offseason (instead of a lockout) with the first team and coaches, he can become the 60% passer he needs to be. Even if he does get better at passing, it only serves to even out the offensive play calling a bit. They will never be pass heavy with him as the starter.

The option much like the wildcat works for about 1 full season. Then teams study and adjust in the offseason and its far less effective. Having 1 week to prepare for something that no one else in the NFL runs just isn't enough time to get everything right. That's part of the reason he's been able to find a way to win games.

Lost in all of this has to be the Broncos defense. Minus the Detroit drubbing, they are keeping the games close and giving the offense a chance to convert late in the game.

Oddly, Tebow seems to be more accurate in the 4th quarter. Maybe they should start Orton/Quinn for the first 3 quarters, and then bring in Tebow for the 4th Quarter, or "Tebow Time" to win the games. :D

He is a polarizing figure, and is really testing the theory "the only thing that matters is winning".

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Also, why when talking about Tebow's passing stats does no one mention all the dropped passes by receivers no ones ever heard of? If you hit a guy in the hands, he should probably catch it.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

I think I've figured this whole thing out. Anything I hate, is going to keep winning just to spite me. So I say GO TIM TEBOW! GO NEW ENGLAND! and GO FLYERS!

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

The Jets play their base defense for the first 55 minutes and the Denver offense is shite. So with 5 minutes left the genius that is Rex Ryan puts an extra DB on the field to prevent Tebow from beating him with his arm. YOU WANT TEBOW TO BEAT YOU WITH HIS ARM! Instead they play right into his strength and he drives the team 95 yards to win. Good call. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy though.

Looking at John Elway in the booth when Tebow scored it was tough to tell if he was cheering for the Broncos or the Jets...
