You sure it wasn't a reference to this?

So the Bears promising season comes crashing to an end.

Cutler out for the last 6 weeks with a broken thumb. He could come back for the playoffs I guess, but that would require the Bears to find at least 3 wins without him.

3 game stretch of Chiefs, Broncos, Seahawks isn't so bad. Then the Vikings in the final week. It's not exactly a gauntlet.

Their backup QB has thrown 14 career passes...

I see even more Forte in their future, and the hopes that the defense can keep creating scores via turnover.

I am guessing that instead, we've actually found out the method that sad little Vikings fans will be using to try to bring Rodgers down a peg (in their eyes). I wouldn't look into it much beyond that. Just let guys like Clown flap their gums so they can go wallow about the state of their club in peace.

As for Perkins, he's basically the Kenny Mayne of Minnesota local news. He knows he'll never have Sheaver's respectability so he might as well put his great sense of humor on display.

Hey, if you want me to say they're screwed, I'm happy to go along with it. :D Just saying, the schedule could be whole lot worse.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

The guy over at The 506 says he thinks this is the first NFL game that has switched networks since the 1980s. I'm not sure why they'd do this (though the Fox 1:00 lineup had only two other games that day).

The December 4 game at Mall of America Field between the Denver Broncos and the Vikings has been moved to a Noon CT kickoff (previously was scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. CT) and will now air on FOX (KMSP Channel 9 in the Twin Cities) instead of CBS.

The NFL utilizes “flexible scheduling” on Sundays in Weeks 10-15, 17. Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all NFL Sunday time slots in those weeks and give teams a chance to play their way onto primetime and into the late-afternoon 3 p.m. CT time slot on CBS and FOX.

For each of the flexible scheduling weeks with the exception of Week 17, the NFL will announce the start times of games on Sundays no later than 12 days prior to that weekend. To ensure a Sunday night game and doubleheader games with playoff implications in Week 17, the flexible scheduling decision for that Sunday may be made on six days notice.

I'd imagine it has something to do with Colts-Pats (a CBS game) being flexed out of Sunday Night Football in favor of Lions-Saints (a FOX game). This keeps it more balanced I guess.

They did move the Lions-Saints game that day from 1pm EST to the Sunday Night NBC game, so that likely had something to do with that.

Money league (5-5): +66.7 vs. BenJarvus Green-Ellis
Non-money league (4-6): +50.94 vs. Jackie Battle and Steven Gostkowski

Looks like two wins.

That might have been the reference, but long before that commercial ever came about people were commenting on the fact that the guy looks like he's going through the motions on the field rather than enjoying himself.

Hey, Rodgers is a great talent, bar none. And I'm not a big enough Vikings fan to wallow in any of their failings - if pressed, I might be able to tell you who the starting lineup is for the team. If the game's on and there's nothing better to do, then I'll watch it. Even then, I'm usually flipping in and out of the games to something else being aired. I'm just not a rabid football fan.

The Bears are screwed. Good QB play is crucial to winning in the NFL (unless you are Denver. :) ) I listened to a little Chicago Sports Talk yesterday and they are all talking themselves into Hanie managing the game and making plays. Ha. Did you see the kid that played QB for the Chiefs last night? I'm not holding my breath.
