Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

Given EJ going down and this one being over, I'd rather if Chili waived the white jersey about now, the one with the #7 on it, for the rest of the game.

Some of my favorite Rube Chat topics:

Brett is the 3rd best QB in the diviseon (Don't blame the spelling on me)
Vikings will not win another game EVER
Hightower > Peterson

I just love it. Secure the local bridges, Rube Chat nation is going to jump, despite cheering for a 10-2 team.

ESPN

The NFL is going to cancel revenue sharing. If they do this, football becomes like baseball. The next step is to eliminate the cap altogether. Does anyone want to know how much money Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones are going to throw at players? Does anyone think franchises in Jacksonville, Nashville, Kansas City etc are going to survive?

Let's kill the golden goose.

That ESPN highlight they just showed of Matt Stafford at the end of the Browns game is impressive.

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

These quarterbacks are making some interesting throws to the opposing team tonight.

They are already planning to be without a cap next season, even if the supplemental revenue sharing isn't canceled (100 mil). Also to be clear, that 100 million is not all of revenue sharing, it is just a small part of it.

The $100 million fund is part of $6.5 billion in revenues shared by all clubs.

The owners with money (like Jerry) want to do away with the salary cap altogether. This is the first step to that. Jerry doesn't like sharing his money while at the same time his ability to spend on free agents is constrained.

The teams who want to spend above the cap aren't the only danger. Its the small market teams who will spend less than the minimum in order to make money. Which is what will happen if they lose too much revenue sharing+no cap/minimum.

The combination of overspending and underspending teams will ruin any parity that has been created.

Although, if overpaying for talent won super bowls, the Redskins would have won about 6 in a row by now.

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

Unless there's another view, that's a TD.

Would it have killed Flacco to throw it to Rice or Mason? :p

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

Once again McGahee vultures a TD from Rice.

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

Just don't let GB K get 3 more points. 2 is fine. 1 is better, zero is best. 4 or more is just no good.
