NFL 2009 Thread #2

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

Hence my not actively rooting for the Bills (so Jauron would be fired; step one complete) and hoping they just blow up the team, and build around Fred Jackson (who's a decent back, and might be a really good back with the right run offense around him).

Trouble is, Bills still think they can get close/make the playoffs. Ugh.

I've been called a bad fan this year for my lack of support of the team and hoping they lose.

I wish Bills fans would realize the only way for this team to get better and out of the mediocre 7-9 seasons is to be REALLY bad. That and fire the scouting department because they obviously can't do their jobs with wasted draft after wasted draft. Every other team seems to be able to find talent deep in the draft, why can't we? Hell our first round picks rarely turn into anything either.

They've been trying to rebuild on the run since Alex Van Pelt. Hint: it doesn't work.

That's because the AFC is a total joke this year. The Colts may be 11-0, but they are very vulnerable.

Agreed.

I'd take the Saints and Vikings over the Colts right now.

The Chargers are a team I could actually see making a run this year though. A Saints/Vikes NFC championship game would be a brutal war. Good game though and I'm sure it would get great ratings because of Bretty.

The Saints have been vulnerable, too. They've had a couple big comebacks. Yes, they look like the stronger team, but they are not invincible. ;)

And I'll take the average AFC team this year over the average NFC team. Dallas is the worst 8-3? 7-4? team I've seen in a while. Same with AZ. Of course, how SD is winning is beyond me. They aren't playing THAT great.

Edit: what Prez said, though. NO/MN > Colts

So do I play Brent Celek (sprained thumb), or Greg Olsen (Jay Cutler throwing to him) at TE this Sunday?

Depends on who they are facing.

If it's a strong D (doesn't matter run/pass), I'd go Olsen. Chi has less weapons to use, and no matter the D, the TE is always gonna get a few passes.

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

I need to start 3 of the 4:
Marques Colston vs. Washington
Andre Johnson vs. Jacksonville
Sidney Rice vs. Arizona
DeSean Jackson vs. Atlanta

Suggestions?

Hmmm, I don't see this at all. Are you talking about just the top two teams, or throughout the conference?

Just taking the NFL.com standings page and matching the conferences up, 1 through 16, here's what you'd get (I've bolded who I'd take on a neutral field this Sunday):

Indianapolis vs. New Orleans
Cincinnati vs. Minnesota
San Diego vs. Dallas
New England vs. Arizona
Denver vs. Philadelphia
Jacksonville vs. Green Bay
Baltimore vs. New York Giants
Pittsburgh vs. Atlanta
New York Jets vs. San Francisco
Miami vs. Carolina
Tennessee vs. Chicago
Houston vs. Seattle
Buffalo vs. Washington
Kansas City vs. Detroit
Oakland vs. Tampa Bay
Cleveland vs. St. Louis

Yay for misspelled promo's on Fox. Who are the NY Gaints?

Strange that Brees struggles with the Redskins of all teams. Not that I think they will lose today.
