Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

It can be done, and the MacInnes can be loud, but they have to win games. When we beat then-#1 North Dakota a few years ago, the building pretty much shook for the last three minutes as we clung to a 2-1 lead and tried to get the ENG. That was with a crowd of under 3000. Get a capacity crowd in there to see a big game like that, and I think it would be great.

Also, JR probably likes the DECC out of nostalgia - it's the last of the opposing rinks that he would've actually played at, since none of the current crop of monoliths existed in the late 80s.

Speaking of which, what should I be packing in my boot for the game Saturday night? I have Elmer T. Lee, Evan Williams Single Barrel Reserve, Basil Haydens, Makers Mark and I can't think of the others...Also, considering sleeping in the back of my truck in the parking lot Saturday night, to save money.

Actually I did. Drove on a thursday night after class all the way from Houghton to lake placid. It's a really long way. Got there mid day, spent the day hanging around the town. Went to the games, saw Dean Meese there and bought tickets by walking up to the window.. Me and two other guys rented a used, by that I mean not cleaned after the previous guest, motel room for about 15 dollars, and all three of us slept in one bed.
Got up, went to the consolation game after getting ****ed out of the win by a referee the previous night. I can't remember if we stayed for the final, we were pretty unhappy, and drove back home to Houghton. Only got stopped by the OPP once. And of course at the border they looked at everything because one of us looked like a hippe with a huge afro. Cornell won that year. Dryden in goal.

Since when do you save money?
Also you can still be charged with a DUI for that...

Since I have to pay for a house...
and I know, I should probably get a hotel, but we'll see. I'll look for one tomorrow at work.

Ducati, I don't know what you're talking about. Jason Aldean sounds pretty **** good live...

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

Only if you start the car.

I thought I remember in HS this police officer told us that even if you have keys with you and you're in the car...you can get charged. Perhaps I am wrong or it is different between MN and MI

Biddco, you're right. If they think you have the intention of driving, you're done. Don't even need the keys. It's kinda bs.

Well drunk driving is a very dangerous proposition and law enforcement wants to discourage it from happening.

Also nice job guys with friending goalies Facebook event. I mean 13 people? Man that will waste like 30 seconds of our goalies lives! Plus you don't even have Kenny Reiter! :D

If the keys are not on your person, or in the vehicle, you're fine. In other words, give your keys to someone you trust, and have them deliver the keys in the morning. Even if the keys are in the cab, and you are in the bed of the truck, you're screwed.

I believe that has changed recently. You don't even need the keys on you or in the vehicle. I read an article about it somewhere, that they changed that because people suspected of driving drunk would throw their keys out of the vehicle, so when the cop came up they didn't have keys, giving them a loophole for the lawyers to use to get the charges dropped. It was a complete BS loophole, because even if they were seen driving a vehicle if they didn't have keys that was enough for the lawyers to work with, but I think they closed it now.

I read about that, I think. The keys were under the vehicle or something. I'm guessing if I'm 3 miles away with your keys, nothing would be done.

SG, the recruiting news wouldn't have to do with Blake Pietila rescinding his verbal to NMU and brother Chad quitting NMU after last weekend and likely transferring to MTU is it? If Blake follows, it will also likely increase chances of landing Johnson, IMO. Great potential for Whitten and MTU after Mikesch's original screwup.

Not sure if you're saying that Mikesch didn't pursue Blake, but if so, then you would be incorrect. I recall him being discussed as a possible recruit 2 years ago, but indications were that Pietila was strongly considering going to the ohl instead.
