Careful, everyone. I am not impressed by this team so far. Mankato wasn't a great test. Tech was very shakey in the second and first part of the third period. The puck control that has allowed the team to do as well as they have disappeared. The offense that has allowed them to win has been riding on a lot of luck. However, the luck may be earned by positioning and hard work. The freshmen class has been absolutely amazing. Imagine when we get Baker back. Nonetheless, I am holding back my emotions for now, it is just too early.

I tend agree with all of this. Even Russell was lukewarm about tonight's performance, praising only the work of the 4th line (Lickteig/McCadden/Rix) and questioning the results from our top line during even-strength play. Mankato gifted us that 5x3 late in the second, and with the powerplay clicking well to start the season, that was enough. We have to do a better job of maintaining early leads, and figure out what the deal is with our last couple of second period performances.

I have no qualms about the offense. They aren't consistent yet, but when they start to buzz and connect passes, they have proven to be dangerous. They clean up rebounds for the first time this decade. They might be a little too dependent on the power play to score at this point, but they are only going to get better. As has been mentioned previously, they are only going to get better.

The defense worries me. Too much time spent in the Husky zone. Inability to make the big clear when the other team is circling the net. Odd man rushes all over the place. Giving up 33.75 shots a game, which should almost be a gurantee for 3 goals, even more against a sniper offense. But, they too will improve.

So far, the Huskies have done what they needed to do to win games against the competition they have played. It gets tougher than what we have faced this season. But you can't ask for a better start than this. There have been periods of each game, except LSSU, where the team has looked very flat and has no jump, but they always seem to overcome it.

I would be happy to see them play a consistent 60 minutes tonight, regardless of the result. Though, I think playing a 60 minute consistent game would have a positive result.

Don't worry I have no plans of using the g word unless my countdown can get to -5 before GLI and I don't see that happening.

The major difference I've seen between this team and past teams is that even though we still gave up that flurry of shots in the middle, we dug deep and worked hard to win the game. Usually, once the shots started flying we would wimper into a corner for the rest of the game.

I bought my first jersey raffle ticket last night in my 4 years at Tech, only cause it was a Robo jersey, but no luck

No doubt the Huskies are the surprise team thus far and I for one like to see it. Good luck the rest of the way except when your boys are playing the Sioux of course.

GUESS WHAT?! The last person to wear tonight's jersey raffle jersey was Geoff Kinrade. Not a bad jersey, eh? Who is stuck entering the raffle as MeG's proxy?

That's a very disappointing tie. Tech's coaches need to flog the defense in practice this week.

I thought Tech played ok tonight. They came back from being down again tonight. You have to realize they played a game on Tuesday of this week also. Don't be so critical of the team. They are playing alot better than many of us thought they would. The WCHA is a tough league week in week out.

I know they're fatigued. After two years of injuries and general disappointment, I'm just really tired of hearing the same old, same old.

Russell is right, we've got a LONG way to go.

agreed but you need to beat the bottom teams to finish well. If Tech is to be anything other than a also ran team, they HAVE to beat teams like mankato. I do think they are a lot better. in all aspects of the game. Goaltending especially. But as Russell says, there is a long way to go.

what is with you guys??!! we've started the season 4-0-2. we've beaten eNMU. we've gotten 3 WCHA points. the WHOLE freshman class is playing. Royer, Cousens, Kattelus coming into their own. Baker is still on the sidelines. Genoe. we are scoring goals like crazy. c'mon. we're just getting started.
