Both. Broxton throwing nearly 50 pitches after he pitched the day before was a stroke of genius. Also, ignoring that Robbie Cano crushes lefties and bringing in Sherrill anyhow to face him. 1000 kinds of brilliant.

obviously it shouldnt have gotten to the 10th.. but i dont think sherril was that bad of a move. cano was 0 for 10 against him and on top of that sherril hadnt given up a homerun to a lefty in over 150 at bats.

i dont think it was a bad move, cano just won the battle.

Sat in the Legends Suite seats right behind home plate last night. Cliff Lee made a great case for the Yanks to sign him as a free agent next season. Except for Swish taking him deep twice, he was basically unhittable. His ball looks like its off the plate coming in and at the last second it darts back across it. Yank hitters were off balance all night and were trying to swing for the fences. Not only did the young kids in the line-up not have a clue against him but most of the regulars had some pretty weak at bats with tons of pop ups.

I am not liking the Hughes Rules, he was rusty last night after not pitching for close to 2 weeks. He didn't have the sharpness he showed before the long layoff.

Ichiro hits the ball as hard as anybody. The ball juts flies off his bat.

Spectacular day at the Stadium today and an entertaining game. CC stopped the bleeding. Yanks still not exactly ripping it up at the plate but A-Rod's heating up. Jorge's passed ball was a horrible blunder. In the nitpicking department, the outfield grass is looking a bit threadbare. :eek:

Outfield is in bad condition after the boxing match a few weeks ago.

looks like cc, andy and hughes should all make the allstar team at 10-2 or 10-3 with ERA's under 3.5; but i doubt it will happen - girardi probably doesnt want that much of his staff not getting the extra time off (hughes will probably get dumped since he has the 'rulez' this year)

I wonder when the last time a team has gotten three starters on?

I want to know what Ramiro Pena was thinking on that double-play ball he decided to take by himself in the ninth that they didn't complete. Just flip to Cano and the game's over.

With Posada out of the lineup they wanted Swisher back down low to split up the lefties. Made sense to do that at least, I hope it's not a permanent change while Posada is out.

A trade that would send Mariners left-hander Cliff Lee to the Yankees was "just about done" on Friday morning, according to an executive involved in the trade talks.

The Mariners have been pushing hard to complete the trade, but as of Friday morning there was no agreement in place, sources said, and it was possible another team could have stepped in to make a more aggressive bid.

But all along, the Yankees have believed no other team matches up better than they would with Seattle in a Lee deal because they are offering prospect Jesus Montero, who figures to have a long and productive career as a hitter regardless of whether he plays catcher or first base.

Yanks will just pick up Lee as a FA after the season and not have to give up any players.
