New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

A-Rod with Tex being intentionally walked in front of him as a Yankee

7 Times it has happened

5 Hits, 1 Walk, 1Sac Fly

3 Grand Slams

18 RBIs

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

I believe the caveat on that is that it's when Teixeira is walked to load the bases in front of him.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

from the 'if a tree falls' department.. randy winn was DFA to make room for granderson on the roster

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

Posada will be re-activated today. Who is going down will be decided after batting practice today. My guess is it'll be Juan Miranda and then he'll be back up after 10 days so they can platoon at DH with Miranda and Thames.

At least, that would make sense if they're going to force Posada to catch or vice versa.

Randy Winn was a disappointment. I thought he had some more baseball in him.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

C.C. has been So So. Time to get it going tomorrow.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

It's practically a requirement with Nick Johnson out for quite a while and Francisco Cervelli proving to be quite an asset himself.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

even more telling is that miranda got sent down instead of moeller when posada got activated. so they are carrying 3 catchers - which i think is important since you dont want to lose the DH spot if cervelli gets injured during a game

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

somewhat 'dated' news, but when oswalt demanded a trade from houston, nyy was one of the 3 teams on his list.

any chance this deal goes through? i'm not sure the yankees have enough prospects they want to give up to make this viable.

his other choices were philly (possibly depleted after the halladay trade) and LAD, i believe (money issues)

of course, the astros owner reportedly chimed in

"The problem is all the players want to be traded to the Yankees and no one wants to be traded to Baltimore."

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

It was reported last week that Cashman isn't interested in trading prospects for Oswalt when he can wait until the end of the season and then try to sign Cliff Lee.

About the only time it would make sense to walk teixeira to face arod is if there's runners on 2nd and 3rd and less than 2 outs. Although I *suppose* it'd be possible with a runner on 3rd and 1 out too.

edit: the "the problem is all the players want to be traded to the Yankees" line is classic.

Maybe it's the novelty, but I've pretty much been enjoying Bob Lorenz's play by play on YES.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

MLB draft starts tonight and Yanks pick 32, 82, 112 and 145 in the first 4 rounds. With winning the series last year all their picks are the last picks of each round. There are compensation picks between Rounds 1 & 2 and 3 & 4, none of which the Yanks have.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

When is Girardi going to move Texeira out of the third spot in the lineup? He is obviously not snapping out of his funk which began last postseason and continues unabated.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

cliff lee to the yankees trade talk

"They want one of the [Yanks' minor-league] catchers and [Triple-A shortstop Eduardo] Nunez," a source told the Post.

The two catchers likely in question are Double-A Trenton Thunder's Austin Romine and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees Jesus Montero(notes), two of the top prospects in the Yankees' system

I know cashman's stance on not trading prospects for players they can ultimately sign in free agency, (and i agree with it) but if they can deal from a position of relative strength/depth at the minor league level to get Lee - i wouldnt be totally against it. though i dont know anything about nunez

hard to imagine that romine and montero will both ever be able to be full time players at the same position.

Re: New York Yankees: Order Has Been Restored To The Universe

They won't, but you're going to need one sooner rather than later, as Posada is 38 or 39, so you're on borrowed time right now. Assuming that they're reasonably comparable as it comes to how they would project as major leaguers, I'd trade Romine.
